Easy to get to by Bus (stops right outside), the Dulwich Picture Gallery is a gem, far away from the crowds of Central London and the National Gallery. I spent about 4 hours here seeing everything but the dedicated exhibition gallery, as it was changing over at the time between exhibits. Gardens and Park nearby would be an option for... More

Finally got to visit and we were very disappointed. Not worth the effort . Few pictures of real standing. Only interest was architecture of early gallery. Definitely not going again.

This is a charming small gallery set in pleasant grounds. It has an interesting permanent collection and a long narrow gallery of several rooms where it shows special exhibitions. I went there to see the current exhibition of works by Vanessa Bell but found this horribly overcrowded. It was hard to move and difficult to see anything properly. I wouldn't... More

Great gallery set in gardens next to old almshouses and church. Lovely cafe serving very good food (brilliant cakes!)

Visited in Feb 17 having previously been put off as not directly on a tube stop. Actually very easy to catch the bus from opposite Briston tube and in 15 minutes it stops directly outside the gallery. With smartphones now you can follow the route exactly and buses now tell you what the next stop will be so reducing the... More

Jeff did this excursion on his own, taking the tube to Brixton (Victoria Line) and switching to the P4 bus that goes right to the museum door. As others have said, this is a rather small museum, and one is not inundated with masterpieces at every turn. But there are enough worthy works to more than justify an art lover's... More

Although the gallery is quite small, it boasts a wonderful collection of baroque paintings from England, Holland, France, Italy and Spain. Figurative studies of eminent people of the time. What was interesting, was that many well known artists learning their skills often copied older works in an almost identical way. It's worth visiting and as there are often touring exhibitions... Currently showing an interesting Vanessa Bell exhibit. The main gallery has some beautiful Rembrandts and much 17th and 18th century art. Cafe on the grounds also.

Six small rooms of her artwork; paintings, book dust jackets for her sister, Virginia Woolf's works, fabric designs are most interesting. A quieter member of the famous Bloomsbury group, she did some very good portraits of family and friends, often choosing to depict some inner self in the sitters. Her work is obviously influenced by many artists and movements of... More

Amazing to be able to have free roadside park a few meters from the entrance. Albeit the back entrance which did cause confusion. You actually walk through the side building and pass through the cafe area out into the courtyard , the main entrance is to the right. I have family that have lived in the area for forty years...
