Great view outside and a photo opportunity. Don't expect to get anywhere near it, barriers and guards all over the place.

We booked the guided tour a few months before travelling to London for a weekend. Others who arrived on the day were picking up audio guides to make their own way around but it is definitely much more worthwhile to have an actual tour guide. Our guide Roberta was incredibly knowledgeable, informative and passionate about the history of Parliament. She... More

You can ask for tickets by writing to your local MP. Tickets cost nothing but be sure to give them dates you're able to do The tour is interesting and insightful mixing in the present with the history. We saw both houses: Lords and Commons as well as some of the many amazing rooms you don't get to see in... More

This was a fascinating place to visit. Unfortunately we lucked out when it came to the tour guide. He lacked any resemblance of personality or interest for the followers. We would have been better to have taken the audio device option and moved through the various areas at our own pace.

I have now taken our school council here twice. The education package that is offered is fantastic and the children really get an understanding of what happens here. The staff are very knowledgeable and each time I have learnt something different. This is definitely something that both adults and children should visit.

Fortunately access to witness parliament in session and debates is open to the public. It requires some advance planning. One gets to see a little of the architecture of this historic building and there is quite long line and hectic security check. But once inside, you get guided to the public gallery which is behind glass. You also get a... More

When one looks at this impressive building one can't help being awe struck with the intricate architecture. Built with the added attraction of Big Ben being a part of it only adds to its appeal.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
