Such a beautiful square that we stumbled on....with such history. Check out the other 3 Inns! They've survived 2 wars. Love the living history

I found these gardens while doing a walk from the Hidden London Walks book. They are open from 12pm to 2:30pm weekdays so I came back with some lunch to eat it here. They are a nice place to have lunch. They are very pretty, although there isn't a lot to them. There is a path that goes in a... More

We lunched "in Hall" and the atmosphere in the historic surroundings was very good. The service was efficient and the food was what one would have expected. Good wholesome food and plenty of it. It was a privilege to dine in such a lovely place. It isn't open to members of the public which is a shame.

Lunch in the dining hall ....this historic building and dining hall is itself a unique part of the English legal aystem. Food is not cordon blue but that's not why you come here.

The gardens here are not quite as nice as Lincoln's Inn (just to the South) but they are a very pleasant place to get away from the traffic and enjoy your sandwiches. During the week on a nice day hundreds of local office workers gather here to meet and eat. There are benches but be prepared to sit on the... More

Of the four Inns of Court (with the Inner and Middle Temple and Lincoln's Inn) Gray's is, in my opinion, the least interesting. You enter via a gatehouse off High Holborn across the street (roughly) from the intersection with Chancery Lane. The gatehouse is immediately next to the Cittie of Yorke pub. The entryway leads you into South Square where... More

We had been for a long walk along High Holborn and Chancery Lane. Whilst in the area, we decided to take a short detour and visit Gray’s Inn. This proved to be a wise decision as the buildings of the inn were architecturally pleasing and the garden area known as the Walks was large and very pleasant. We were fortunate... More

Not quite as dramatic as Lincoln's Inn, it is still a real haven of peace in a busy part of London, with a very pleasant area of greenery known as the walks.

Was lucky enough to be invited to join a group of Friends of the Royal Academy for a private guided visit today with luncheon in the Hall. Our guide was a delightful retired barrister named (I think) Timothy who entertained us wonderfully with his descriptions of the many interesting portraits and other art works on display whilst also giving us... My daughter was called to the bar here and as a proud Dad, I attended the ceremony. So, although I enjoyed the buildings from the inside, I can say that they are not the reason you would go ti Gray's Inn. The grounds are open to the public at lunch time and they are a pleasure to walk around. If... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner London’s busiest streets crisscross quiet cobbled lanes for an effect that can be urbane or quaint – or an intriguing blend of both – depending on the particular corner you turn.
