Quirky and unusual house. Elevated by committed, helpful and knowledgeable staff who clearly care about what they do. If you have an hour to spare in the area go there.

The museum is in an original Victorian terrace house but what makes it so unusual is that the contents from that period are intact. It is crammed full of victoriana and there is barely a spare space on the walls because there are so many...More

I was fortunate to have a conducted tour with a small group of friends. The tour lasts 1.5 hours. I live in a similar tall, narrow Victorian house, but it has been modernised (up to a point). This house has much of the original decorations,...More

You have to book a tour to visit here and it is well worth it. The introductory video is very informative and our guide was excellent. A real step back in time. The house is on five floors so isn't suitable for people who can't...More

I went along with a friend to do the costumed tour of 18 Stafford Terrace and had no idea what to expect, but it was so great learning more about the Sambournes and seeing how they lived. It's impressive how well the house has been...More

A fantastic experience which far exceeded our expectations. The costumed tour lasts a good 1.5 hours, is very well presented and allows for interaction. The interiors have all been preserved/reconstructed to a very high standard which gives the house real atmosphere. We came away feeling...More

I went round this house with a group, we did not have a costumed guide but a very knowledgeable one who faithfully painted a picture of the life of the Sambourne family who lived in the house. The house is crammed with their possessions, just...More

Definitely a must-see for anyone interested in the Victorian age. The house offers a choice between guided or costumed tours, and I would wholeheartedly recommend the latter. On the day we visited this was led by the Victorian housekeeper, an actress who remains fully in-character...More

It's a tiny place crammed with lovely objects and looks just like it was more than a century ago. The visit is done with a guide , an actress who plays the part of Mrs Sambourne or her maid. So we are told many a...More

Entering the house you are transported back in time to the late Victorian era. Book a costumed guide for a fantastic hour long tour of the house, how it worked and what it was like to live in Victorian London. Our guide played the maid...More

I think I booked by phone. It's a more sure way of doing it. If you're overseas, try Skype?
