I've been to london a few times and did not know you could go inside Parliament! We did the audio tour which wasn't very expensive and absolutely fascinating. The whole place is just stunning and there was so much I learned. I can't recommend it enough. Whether your interested in Parliament and politics or not the history of Westminster is... More

The City of Westminster is vast with so many iconic buildings, yet it takes second fiddle to its neighbour - the square mile of the City of London. But Westminster holds most of the jewels - Buckingham Palace; The Houses of Parliament; Westminster Abbey; and The Cenotaph to name a few.

Loved Westminster. Big Ben is such an iconic London landmark. The parliament buildings are magnificent, and chimes of Big Ben can be heard from quite a distance.

Rather dark in light and in the number of burial aspects. Very crowded and the cost of entrance does not include audio equipment.

In this area is Westminster, The Abbey, Big Ben and The Parliament and with The Thames slowly moving it wawes along the many majestic buildings. Highly recommended to use ½ day in this fantastic area and walk around and see it all. If one get tired there is a pub or two to find nearby.

Very nice place, transport is very easy (there is a subway station called "Westminster") and you can be "face-to-face" with Big Ben and Westminster Abbey!

If you wander far in London, you will surely come thru this area. Westminster and Parliament square are a site to behold. What a remarkable building plus incredible statues in the area. History unfolds right before your eyes!

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
