The oldest and largest square in Mayfair, Grosvenor Square is ringed by imposing buildings the largest of which is the American Embassy which fills the entire west side of the square. This is the only square in London still owned by the Crown and on a brisk fall afternoon this peaceful green space in the midst of the busy city... More

On a nostalgia visit to our old neighbourhood, we returned to Grosvenor Square. It is a beautiful green space in Mayfair. Grosvenor Square is flanked on one side by the US Embassy. The Canadian High Commission used to be across the square, but it is now being turned into luxury condominiums. Lots of memories from the past.

Park is very beautiful and peaceful. There is a monument to the UK victims lost in the 9/11 attacks against America that is lovely!

A lovely walk through Mayfair took us through Grosvenor Square. It has a memorial, water feature, large statues and several embassies around - amongst those the American.

Lovely place to stop over to sit and relax after a busy shopping spree from the nearby Oxford Street. Lots of birds, quiet and peaceful.

One of the most prestigious locations in London takes its name from the surname of the Duke of Westminster. The first connection to American presence here was established by John Adams with his mission to the Court in 1785. This is a relaxing green area surrounded by impressive buildings with a lot of history.

This square was interesting because of its American connections. Read up on the history of the Square, it is interesting. There is a memorial to those English people who perished in the September 11 attacks.

On a bright sunny day, we made our way to enjoy the square. Lots of people were enjoying their lunch or just relaxing in the sun. The square was laid out in 1725-1731 and encompasses about 6 acres. It has always had a special place with Americans. The American Embassy sits just outside the square (although it will be moving... More

Beautiful green space amongst one of the wealthiest neighborhoods. Located in the Mayfair neighborhood between the US and Italian Embassies. A great place to relax and slowdown while the fast paced life of London goes on around you. Beautiful manicured lawns, trees, statues, monuments and immaculate gardens. We spent a lazy hour recharging for our next adventure.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
