We made initial contact with Pete more than 4 months in advance of our visit. We outlined our travel plans and interests and within 24 hours he replied with some touring ideas, pre marathon dinner suggestions, and a club tip for after a show. We were obviously impressed and even more so by his willingness to be somewhat flexible with... More

Peter took us out for a full day tour last week. Group included my wife and our two 13 year olds. I had informed Peter ahead of time about our interests including Soccer(son),Music(me) and shopping in unique stores(wife and daughter). He planed a great day and was able to change things on the fly when needed. He seemed to know... More

My two teen-aged sons and I spent the better part of a day walking St. James and surrounding areas with Peter. He was terrific - suited to tour to the boys interests and had impressive knowledge about everything from Churchill's $12,000 per box cigar orders to the class distinctions evident in the undersides of stairwells in the Stamp House. He... More

What a blast! I thoroughly enjoyed the day. What better than to have an area of London I thought I knew thoroughly unpacked by Peter? What was especially nice was to do the walk in the company of a small group of like minded people. Peter has an especial gift for getting you to notice the stuff beyond the obvious.... More

You don't expect an intrepid London explorer to offer a walking tour of the County Town of Hertfordshire but, as a local resident, Peter is characteristically enthusiastic to share its delights. Many of us had travelled there from London on its excellent train services; others were local residents, and rather charming and important ones at that. In minutes, Peter's affable... More

Peter guided us around the "Seven Noses of Soho" - a great couple of hours exploring street art in Soho that I've walked past dozens of times without noticing. Intimate group of 8 people meat we had a really personal tour, plenty of time to chat and ask questions. Peter tailored the tour to our group by finding out what... More

Peter Berthoud is a class act. Catch him if you can. Also, he's very tall and not easily lost in a crowd.

I am now so ho in the know. It was great, really enjoyable, really informative, really friendly. Peter took us to every street in Soho and entertained us with stories about the areas many landmarks - both celebrated and obscure. Splendid day out.

First off... this is not a guide taken from a script and given to some "youf" to deliver, this a guide lead by a man who has a passion for the area, it's heritage/past and it's future. Peter is engaging from the start, friendly, putting you at ease,I arrived slightly late due to transport issues not a problem at all... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
