For me, this production strayed too far from the book. A lot of the kids around me in the theatre kept saying "this isn't in the book" and found it hard to follow and I was totally with them. I would have liked more focus...More

Seriously, see this show. It is amazing for young and old. Extremely talented children. A very clever piece of theatre.

Visited with my daughter (9). We thoroughly enjoyed the show, the kids were fantastic. We were sat in the upper stalls row G and had a great view and still managed to see the whole show. This is a must see!!

firstly.. Price on trip advisor is wrong. We got tickets for less than half direct from website. This is a great show for adults and kids with Tim Minchin's wit and musical humour shining through. The sets are impressively well thought out and show flows...More

I had wanted to take my now 8 year old to see this for some time. Outstanding. The best children's theatre I have ever been to. Of course standard would be superb from RSC. Clever, slick, engaging for all - child and adult alike without...More

Great cast, choreographed to within an inch of its life. Precision harmony and a set that although not ostentatious glides into position with ease. The kids are not irritating at all and perform their all. Trunchbull is the star of course. Baddies always are. The...More

The show itself was good, the kids where fantastic glad I saw it but not one I would see again. The theatre was clean and uncluttered and easy to find

When we first sat down and starting watching, we weren't sure what to expected. But this is one of the best musicals I have seen. Worth watching for children and adults

I can't express how incredible this musical is! I've seen so many musicals over the years and this is a standout! Absolutely stunning. We had front row seats at the Cambridge theatre (which in my opinion were way too close and quite uncomfortable) but this...More

This is definitely a musical I would recommend based on the actors excellent performances, especially the depiction of Bruce and lavender and the set design is fantastic. However, if you are going because you love the books, this adaption does stray from the plot somewhat...More

We are going to see this at the end of September as my daughters 6th birthday treat, shes currently reading the book, She is obsessed with the soundtrack, knows several of the songs of my heart, and I know she will want to meet 'matilda' and 'miss honey'. Can anyone tell me whether they make a appearance at stage door after a matinee performance?

It depends on the day, but they usually do stagedoor matinees. You and your daughter will be able to meet and take pictures with Miss Honey and all the adults but not with Matilda or any of the kids. You could talk to them... More
What age group would you say this show is suitable for? I'd love to take my son next year as it will be local to us. My son will be 5 years old, but a colleague who has seen it says he might be too young for it? I'd appreciate opinions from others who have seen it!

I think 5 is a little young for the show. Some of the content is quite dark and confusing for a 5 year old. I would say 7 years and over would be ok.
Looking for a cheap hotel and ticket package? Or just a cheap hotel near by? Any advice welcome pls

Hi You could try ShowandStay for packages. Alternatively one of the Premier Inn's for the room, or the Strand Palace hotel is not too far and a good price. Hope you enjoy the show as much as we did.
