Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. We booked months in advance for a table of 6 even preordered and paid for our meals to arrive on the day asking to squeeze with 2 small tables and seating for 5. After asking politely, we manage to get 3 small tables to sit the 6 of us. Food was horrible, tasted as though it was cooked when we purchased it months earlier. It was bland, dry, potatoes were rotten (just look at the photo, potatoes are not meant to be black inside!), meats were of low quality but charged an exceptionally high price! The gravy was so watery and tasteless that even the server laughed when she was placing them down on the table as most of the “gravy” sloshed on the floor. Service was poor. The only thing that tasted ok was the eggnog. We paid AUD$140 per head! An insane amount for such poor food. We literally left hungry, left the plates overflowing with food back to their kitchen untouched for the most of it. Definitely ruined our Christmas Day. It was clear to the servers that we did not enjoy our meal however no apology or restitution was offered. Extremely disappointing.

Hi C_JamesHome, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience in our pub. We are very disappointed to see it was not as good as we strive it to be. We will look into this and what happened, to ensure this doesn't happen again, but if you could please contact us at lambwc1@youngs.co.uk, cheers, Lee

Worlds slowest service. Literally still at the bar waiting. They have three staff each doing one order at a time and taking their sweet ass time doing it. Spent £160 on an open tab and can't get a round for my life

Hi, Ryan! Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your experience with us. I am so disappointed to hear, the guys were not fast enough behind the bar. I will look in to who was working and make sure to change the habits behind the bar.
Thank you again for your review. Every feedback matters to us.

Used to work here in the 70's. Lovely old pub. Not as sparkly as it used to be but still worth a visit for historical fittings. Pork belly was fine but fish pie was awful had a weird tang to it. I think it was probably off. Could not eat it. Just ate the mash and cabbage. Young barmaid not concerned at all, not even "I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your meal". we had to ask her to tell the kitchen staff. She is letting the pub down. Had there been any concern at all, this review would have more stars. If the managers bother to read reviews - there is a training issue!

Hi, Drach56. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your experience in our pub. I am very disappointed to hear you did not enjoy your fish pie, but let me assure you, it could not have been off, as a completely new batch of them was made just that morning. However, it does not mean, the waitress on the day should have not reacted to your complaint on the date. As she is a new staff member with us, i will be making sure to re-train her on customer service and make sure this does not happen again.
Regards, Aura

Not been here for a few years, and visited the Foundling Museum nearby and with your ticket was a 10% discount at The Lamb so how could we not go. Fantastic old pub. Old fashioned, neighbourhood feel. Beautiful seating and counter. Youngs bee, which is always good and a range of gins.
Absolutely one of the best pubs in London.

Had a wonderful evening here last night. Great setting - casual, fun, not over the top but solid in every way we wanted. We had dinner (fish and chips for me, a burger for my better half) and drinks and they were great. The staff were very nice and attentive. The crowd was lively and friendly. Definitely give this one a try!

Classic pub right around the corner. Went for mid-afternoon break - drinks and snacks. They didn't have the red wine ordered from the menu (provided a decent substitute) and chips took over 25 minutes to arrive. At that time of day, not at all crowded and a pleasant place to relax.

We visited here for a brief break at opening time on Saturday 3rd October. We have 2 week old daughter in Great Ormond Street and needed some 'normal time' for us as a family.
My husband checked if children were ok and he was told yes as long as they behaved which we felt was fair.
My son was not having a good day and I am happy to admit he was upset, crying and being a bit disruptive but given that the put was empty he wasn't disturbing anyone.
The landlord did try to help with giving my son a car to play with but my son was upset due to his sister and could not be calmed.
I decided to take my son back to our hospital accommodation at the same time as being asked to leave. I explained my daughter is in great Ormond street and as a result my son was distraught to no response other than you need to leave.
I left and my husband stayed with his parents who were visiting our daughter for the first time. After I left, the landlord made comments in ear shot of my husband about how "in his day, if children mis-behaved they would get a clip around the ear" he then said that he would now ban children.
I understand that its a pub and that he has a business to run but that aside he not only seems to be condoning hitting a child he also chose to ignore my explanation that my daughter is seriously ill and that's what my son is struggling and then said as a result of 'this' kids are banned.
If you have a child at GOSH and need a break for a lemonade, coke or whatever avoid this place. They have no sympathy for those facing difficult times. The landlord is happy to take nearly £20 for 5 drinks but not accommodate those who need a break during difficult times. AVOID - go to the queens larder in the opposite direction instead where they are friendly and helpful.

We are tourists and we are staying near this pub. After a long day walking around London, we thought about stopping there to have a pint, me and my wife, and some fresh still water my two children, of 15 and 9 , There were some free tables and, after one quarter trying to get someone to serve us, a barman asked to us what we'd like to have, but immediately he called a fellow who told us that the pub doesn't admit children after 5 pm. Certainly, the atmosphere of the pub is very musty and it's obvious that the place needs a renovation, everything seems so old fashioned except the prices, actually very high. We won't come back to this terrible place, even if we come back to London with no children. I thing it's very strange that a business could say no to receive my money because I'm accompanied with my sons (two children with good manners), as if it was a place "only for adults". The pub's management might post the rule on the door: "we don't admit children after 5 pm", to avoid confusions and to make clear what kind of business it actually is.

My wife and I were in The Lamb twenty years ago - loved it so much we wanted to bring our family this past week as we were in London for holiday. I walked in and asked if I could grab a table for dinner for my family. The barman told me that if I could find a place to sit, we could eat. I motioned to a nearby table - he told me it was reserved. I looked on the card and it said the reservation was for 830pm. I asked if we could sit there as it was the only large table available and it was only 600pm. He agreed but as I was bringing my family in, he told me they couldn't serve us with children due to licensing restrictions. I turned to leave and watched him grinning at me while elbowing his fellow barman - I was livid. Now I know after over 20 years of traveling to London and the UK in general that such an assertion is not true. And when we went to The Swan and several other places, they all confirmed that there is no such legal licensing restriction. So shame on The Lamb and it's condescending, rude staff. And I can confirm that having been there 20 years ago versus this visit that the pub is showing it's age. Lots of other options in the area and in greater London. Don't waste your time - especially if you have a family.

I pre-booked a table to sit down and enjoy a drink with friends. We arrived on time, late Saturday afternoon, we were served straight away, and our table was waiting for us where we enjoyed our top quality ale. The food menu looked good but we chose not to stay to eat there owing to the prices being rather naughty. £14-25 for burger and chips is too steep. Still gets five stars because it's a great pub, beer is excellent and you can go elsewhere to eat.

Hi, LondonFozzy! Thanks very much for your review. I am so happy to hear, that our team is doing a great job taking care of our customers. If you leave our pub happier than you came in, we consider it a good job done. :)
Sorry to hear about the prices, but i can only suggest you to give it a go one day and try our burger. As we are cooking our menu fresh, it does make a big difference to the quality and unfortunately prices.
Thanks again for the stars and hope to see you guys back soon!
Regards, Aura
