Went here to see Lee Nelson - very funny! The bonus is that it was in a most beautiful building - absolutely stunning historical decor. I liked the fact that the bar was at the back of the theatre so you did not have to leave the auditorium to get a drink before and and at the interval; the bar... More

We went to watch Friday night is Music Night show being recorded to be broadcast on BBC 2 in a couple of months. I have loved the Hackney Empire since I was a child living in the area. The BBC Concert Orchestra were wonderful as usual and the George Gershwin theme for the evening was very enjoyable. The staff were,... More

Offenbach is rarely performed in England to any high standard, but this production has exceeded anything I have seen in the past. To start with, the Hackney Empire is a delight, and most beautifully kept. Staff are welcoming, and it is lovely to have such an excellent view of the orchestra pit, and the orchestra on this evening (Royal Academy... More

We saw Sleeping Beauty as our Christmas Pantomime in December. Its the second time we have been there and its not only the magic of going to a pantomime but the beauty of this very old magnificent building built in 1901. Steeped in history its beautifully carved panels and seating boxes in red and gold. The old bell that strikes... More

This show was so much fun. If you are a fan of musical theater and are visiting around Christmas, be sure to see one. It is a British tradition. Fun for ALL ages. Goofy humor, very silly but just join in the fun and you will have a blast.

Our adult son had recommended that, during our preChristmas visit to London, we should see a panto at the Hackney Empire, and he would join us. It proved to be great advice. The theatre is a heritage building, and the perfect setting for some "heritage" entertainment. It was a real family show - lots of adults and children - and... More

Advertised as London's best Panto. certainly it was very good. Great effects and performances. Only downside was that after what was essentially the end they proceeded to add on a half hour with a sing along that could have been lost and definitely improved the show. Venue itself has been nicely redone.

i admit ive never been to see a panto (on no you have haven't, oh yes I have) until this year and stumbled over a little gem of a venue that is Hackney Empire, the venue is amazing and full of charm and original touches and would be great for any show however it surpassed itself with the Panto it... Amazing show, from the Wicked White, Sleeping Beauty, Prince, Dragon etc WOW, definitely for the children and they loved it and got involved, really good atmosphere and wonderful show to get you into the mood for Christmas. Will do this as a Christmas tradition for sure, parking facilities, slightly expensive, but all worth while to get you in the mood... More

A mind blowing venue for a fabulous bit of seasonal fun, the Hackney Empire is another glorious example of what makes London great. Comfortable seats with good views and beautiful decoration make it a joy to be in for all the family.
