Was killing time whilst daughter was at a concert so I thought I'd buy the cd for who she was seeing. Nice store, friendly staff. Lots of choice.

Busy shop but you can find any kind of music in the world. The prices are good too. Staff are helpful. They often have special events like signings. Watch out for pickpockets.

As has been said many a time this is the worlds greatest record store if not the oldest in the U.K and has been historical in having the greatest music group of all time - the Beatles - but saying that the store has moved down the road a couple of times and is now at 363 Oxford Street The... More

When in London, I always walk around and check the different records shops. And I always stop by at HMW in Oxford street for having a look at the vinyls, the CDs & the books. And most of the times I walk out with something. Great for cruising around through music stuff.

Yes, I remember when CD and DVD stores were bigger and better. But those stores are gone and most cities near me are left with a fairly small and unimaginative section in Best Buy or Target, and not much else. I spent a couple of hours at this HMV and got back some of those memories of times when I'd... More

Second time I have been for a gig and I must say I'm very impressed with the store and the layout of the live venue and I look forward to going back there again soon.

I was heartbroken when the mega-store sized HMV store opposite Poland Street was closed as the flagship and operations transferred to this much smaller store near Bond Street tube. It has a good selection of DVDs and some CDs, but it is too small, especially for a flagship store. Also certain DVDs are never in stock despite only being recent... More

This is a big record shop but lacking in that personal touch you would get if it was independently run. They do have a huge selection of records, all in alpha order and by genre. Very few bargains and a strange pricing policy which has some records by an artist varying in price from £5 -£13. It seems odd that... More

Having lived with the demise of Tower Records and the Virgin MegaStore chain, it is a joy to know that HMV, a full-fledged "record" store, still exists. For me, there is a great joy seeing and handling CD's etc. before deciding to buy them. And there is always the chance of discovering an old gem or brand new artist. This... More

This place is the best. Never mind which cd-place you might have in your neighborhood. This is the place to come.....The Mecca.....The Holy Grail (filled with music).....Nirvana!! 3 floors crammed with lots of goodies - and thanks to Pete, Rodrigo, Nicole and Ian (all staff) I emerged a few hours later with half my luggage filled. Thanks guys! They have... More
