Unforgettable chicken, everything else great too
Jun. 2021 • Friends
I came here a few years ago and the Indo-Japanese fried chicken dish has always lingered in my memory. I think if you remember food for years it must be pretty special.
I was finally in the area again tonight and went back for the chicken. The staff were super friendly too, the building and decor were charming, music was good, prices weren't bad for the location, and we took part in a pub quiz and somehow came second and won a free round. Ticked all the boxes and more.

An utter delight!

Surely this will now be one of my regular haunts in the area?! (Working around here I’ve been to them all!)
Service was just blinding, like I genuinely can’t remember the last time I received service like that.

From the owner to the chef.

Quirky and good selection of drinks.
Food was yummy, only had nibbles but will report back on more as will definitely be returning for mains etc.

Cute little rooftop patio place for a couple of tables, and peaceful there too!

Just had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon here and couldn’t get over how much they went out of their way so you can carry on, enjoy and have fun.

Top top banana.

Inrteresting and nice Pub
Jan. 2020
The Gladstone Arms is a cute and tiny pub closer to Southwark and it is a small gem among the vastity of pubs in London.
A good gem.
It proposes interesting beers on tap and an interesting menu with an indian touch and all dishes come as either small - for a person whom is not very hungry - or large if you want to share the meal with some friends.
I was there with 3 friends and we took 1 large Avocado Papri Chaat and 1 Veggie Sliders and they were enough.
A huge PLUS and a great surprise it is the live music! Thursday, Saturday and Sunday there is live music with several bands or singers.
The place is a real treat and the staff and owners were very friendly too.

Great for a hen party
Nov. 2019
We booked the top room of the Glad for a hen party last month and the owners couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. I knew from past visits that the food was amazing and as we were celebrating on a Saturday night, there was likely to be entertainment downstairs. The room we booked was perfect for our party of twelve - good sound system and lighting, food was fantastic and arrived all on time and piping hot. There was live music on the ground floor later on which made it just perfect for the last part of the evening when we all gravitated downstairrs to the bar.
Thanks to the landlord and landlady for a fantastic evening - highly recommended for a party!

Busy pub with friendly service
Nov. 2019
Popped into the Glad on a trip down memory lane with some friends who used to live in this area. The staff are really friendly and the pub is quirky. There is extra seating upstairs. They were serving food whilst we were there which looked nice (we had already eaten). Mixed ages.

The perfect local
Apr. 2019 • Business
Fantastic to see a pub brought back from the brink of destruction by developers. The Glad is now a proper pub with an excellent range of beers and gins, plus cocktails including a lethal espresso Martini, and a menu of excellent food. The only tiny gripe is that they have a small kitchen, so if you visit at a busy lunchtime, you’ll need to be prepared for a wait for your food. But on the plus side, this means a few more trips to the bar to try the range of beers. And the food really is excellent. An absolute gem.

Glad to be at The Glad
Jun. 2019 • Friends
Great lunchtime meeting up with my brother and niece. Wide selection of beers very well kept and some very tasty lunchtime plates for both veggies and meat eaters. A more traditional feel to this pub - in an area with plenty of more fabricated environments. Its decor is basic, functional with a strong musical flavour (live music some evenings). Short walk from London Bridge station and Borough Tube but nicely tucked away in a side street. Well worth a visit

We were staying in Lant street for a short London break and The Glad became our "local". We sampled the food on two occasions and were not disappointed. It was sublime! An unusual mix of flavours and influences. On our second night we were fortunate to hear a wonderful accapella choir. The first evening was open mic night. The bar staff, owners and locals were really friendly and we had such a great time. Wish it was our local at home! Good selection of beers, spirits etc ....... we WILL be back to sample your Sunday roast with a twist! Thank you for making us so welcome!

Food is amazing!
Mar. 2019 • Friends
Wonderful little pub which oozes character and personality with a quirkiness to it. Small roof terrace perfect for the warmer months. Been for drinks a good few times as it’s my friends local, but last night we shared some food - it’s small dishes / tapas style with an Indian twist. Absolutely amazing! Chilli cheese on toast, quail scotch egg and a chicken option - it was out of this world, so delicious. I’d order again next time even if I wasn’t hungry!
