The Bar Server was initially very pleasant and friendly. However, my (American) wife ordered Hand Cut Crisps and after a few minutes we were delivered a small bowl of lukewarm chips (French Fries) with some mayonnaise. She then clarified the order with the bar (a kitchen staff member we present and seemed pissed-off), my wife left not knowing if they... More

After a super tour at The Shard we decided to get a bite and ended up here. Went for a chicken sandwich and a burger. Absolutely horribly dry and hard as hockey pucks. Make sure you're dentist is available for immediate service. Even more irritating was that we went to Borough market afterwards and then i just remembered that they... More

I stopped by after having a wonderful evening of Meantime tastings at The Hornimans. I didn't realise this pub was here until I opened my google maps app looking for a whiskey house. I dropped in towards the latter part of the evening on my way to catch a train. I expected to just grab a "swift one" but the... More

Annoyingly we had to leave the riverside on our way down the southbank, fortunately we hit this hidden gem in the way. It's a tiny pub, an enclave surrounded by coffee shops, sandwich bars and tourist traps. Great beer and spirits selection. We were served by a chirpy Irish lad, James. We had a good laugh being 2nd generation myself.... More

Cancelled a 40th birthday party without telling me- I had booked it months ago and only found out they'd cancelled it when I contacted them 2 weeks prior to the event to double check. No apologies or suggestions - simply said they had a better offer. I was left with 40 people and nowhere to go. Appalling.

A local mate took us here whilst we were in London otherwise we'd probably not have noticed it. Decent atmosphere with good beer garden and selection of drinks. Food was quite good too and reasonably priced.

Having been to this pub previously only 4 weeks ago with no problem with our little dog ( bar staff even brought him over a drink ) . We were shocked this time when one of the staff confronted us abruptly & told us that we had to leave as no dogs are allowed! With over 25% of households in... More

We arrived to this pub after a morning of exploring looking for some food. We were greeted with a lovely welcome but that didn't last long. I ordered our food off the lounge girl. It took quite a while for it to arrive and when it did the order was wrong. I had ordered veg soup for myself and the... More

Quite a decent mid sized pub with large outdoor seating area near the river. Typical drinks and pub food. Prices are high at this tourist locale. It is all about the location and it's a good spot for a pub.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
