The statue is beautifully made, showing great craftsmanship. The positioning is also well thought out as one can see excellent views pretty much for 360 degrees. Definitely worth a visit, particularly as it's right next to the whale bone arch.

as statues go this one is interesting with some history on it,good bronze panels,and a cracking figure of mr.cook himself.

This is an elegant monument to the great seafarer & explorer. There's a good information sign at the bottom. The location is wonderful - on a high bluff looking over Whitby harbour and looking out to sea.

Can see this from the harbour, again a bit of a grunt to get to up the hill but the views are well worth the effort. Good to see New Zealand and Austrlai pitching in to kale the statue.

If you take a walk you are going to see a wonderful view of Whitby from this statue. It just reminds you how important the town was in the past.
