A virtual visit to Dr Frankensteins laboratory with Geissler Tubes, Bouquet Tubes, Railway Tubes, Jacob's Ladder, telegraph system, early x-ray tubes and many more crackling spark, electric flame laden demonstrations. Showing the education of the young Victorians, using many of the static accessories and rare artefacts, as used by them. We hope your visit here will prove interesting, stimulating and will give an insight into this largely extinct branch of science.

At each trip for Whitby Goth Weekend we said we'd try to book for this museum and we finally took the plunge. Tony met us in his Victorian finery and looked very dapper. The museum is like a Tardis. There's so much to see and Tony is the perfect guide through the history of electricity, radiation and X-rays. The format... More

HI Rebecca, Thanks a lot for your enouraging review. It came so quickly too! It's a good job you didn't come today (Saturday), hail and drenching rain all day long, but the "Tardis" is still dry and intact! Well done with "Pulug"! We must award you top marks, if not a stick on star! Again thank you for the trouble... More

Cannot recommend this highly enough - I refuse to believe there is anyone who cannot enjoy this experience. Ranging widely over science, history, medicine and mechanics with demonstrations ranging across creating lightning, levitating items, rediscovering victorian toys, using geiger counters, recreating radio and finally reanimation itself, there truly is something for everyone, whatever age and interest. Tony is an entertaining... More

Drew? Here I am, asking people to remember a name and I can't recall yours properly, even though you were the "Light man". In my defence let me say, I had to recall 5 rather than one, even so, my apologies. I do remember your military Goth dress, and of course there's a reminder in the group photograph. I thank you... Wie geht es Chris, Many thanks for your input as well. I am especially pleased when visiters who do not have a science background get something out of it, and also enjoy the experience. May I say in finishing: Wir hoffen sie alle eines tages wieder hier begrussen zu duerfen. Thanks a lot, Pat and Tony. More

This museum is one of a kind. A true cabinet of curiosities. Tony gives a fascinating two-hour demonstration of all kinds of Victorian scientific apparatus from the Wimshurst electrostatic generator to the Tesla coil (all in fully working order - sparks and all)! A truly phantasmagorical experience! The visit is punctuated by tea and buns courtesy of Tony's lovely wife,... More

Thanks folkes A nice review and , as I always seem to say in these responses, we are happy your holiday was enhanced by our efforts. It is always difficult to come up with something new, but we try constantly, so, if you came again in 4 years, say, chances are there would be something new to see, not a guarentee... More

I don't know where to start in describing how wonderful and truly unique this museum is. We were greeted by Tony in his Victorian finery and shown to the museum which was crammed full of fascinating instruments, machines and objects. Tony was incredibly knowledgeable and made our visit really interesting and informative - as well as interactive - Mark loved... More

Both of us found the whole visit both entertaining and very informative. Tony's demos were great - I especially loved the Tesla coil in the finale and the demo of X-rays. The major lantern show about Marconi's work was educational as well. Tony and Pat were great hosts and the cups of tea and cake were very welcome. These words... More

An absolutely unique experience. Tony and Pat welcome you into their home and Tony shares a cornucopia of old-fashioned technology. In no other museum could you feel like you are part of a family who are being shown their granddad's favourite toys. Highly, highly recommended for anyone with even a passing interest in science.
