Large open area housing ruins and museum. Local to The Minster and walking distance to shops and eateries. A nice place to relax after walking around the town.

These gardens are so well kept. An oasis in the city. They are pleasantly laid out and wonderful to stroll around The gardeners should be commended for their work as they really do a fine job

This is a wonderful place, right by the river in the middle of the city to relax in. I was therefore for the first York Proms and it was a fantastic venue for this event!

Some interesting plants, well kept, views of the river and the fab St. mary's Abbey is in the grounds plus Roman remains (part of the city walls). Nice place to sit on a warm day, away from the hustle and bustle

In the museum there is a lift to all floors and disabled toilets in the basement. There is a ramp leading to the entrance and there are ramps all around the gardens plus lots of benches to sit on and watch the world go by... More

The gardens are free to enter however Im sure the museum has a small fee to enter it :)

From Bootham turn into Marygate and turn right just before the Bay Horse into the car park. After leaving your car return to Marygate and the entrance to the gardens is adjacent to St Olave's Church. There are no toilets... More
