York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

Our tour guide was immersed into the stories and sought to enchant us with both the town and the characters that lived there so long ago! We enjoyed it greatly and I definitely recommend this.

A very friendly fun tour guide. Some horrible local stories to give you chills. The host was well read and knew his history. He also was very careful that he would not upset anyone before he told the horrible tales.

Wherever we travel, we're sure to take as many walking tours as possible. Gemma was theatrical, dramatic and wonderful. Great knowledge of history and spectacular at getting our teenage boys to act out a few gruesome events. Definitely recommend.

I'm not much into fake spooky tours or comedy tours. This one is different. It was entertaining and told stories of the dark past of York. The 2 men that guided the tour were both excellent storytellers. Recommend!

Ran across this tour by accident and am so glad I did! While it's not a ghost tour, the guide Damien made sure to keep us on our toes with real events that are spookier than any ghoul. He also did a great job of...More

It's a mixture of both to be honest! I really enjoyed it though! It wasn't gimmicky.
