This is a house well worth a visit. Fascinating history and the volunteers are exceptionally helpful and informative. They engage in conversation and direct you to items you might otherwise miss.

The guides were so informative and knowledgable, very helpful and obviously committed. The house was amazing with so many wonderful treasures, the dining room was so revealing with the huge amount of crockery and silver cutlery set in a symmetrical manner.

Well worth the visit- but not really suitable for children. Only a small portion of the whole building is the museum. We missed the guided tours which are on specific days only, but there were cards in each room explaining what the items were. Very...More

If in York this is a must visit. Georgian furniture, beautiful ceilings, fascinating history of the Fairfax family . The fantastic guides bring this house to life Highly recommended.

We did not expect such wonders. The house is beautifully reconstructed and filled with the most fascinating artifacts and art. The kitchen alone is well worth seeing as it is stocked with so many interesting gadgets and looks the part with all the food too....More
