Had a lovely morning at the museum , I haven't been there for a very long time. Great exhibitions and well presented using both new and old technology. Only downside for me was I don't think the 60's deserves a room of its own.

Having put off visiting in years past due to perceived expense and huge queues, today presented an opportunity to visit. £10 (gift aided) per adult entry and under 16s going free made it none too expensive in actuality. The lay out and displays are first rate. Our family has a keen interest in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, with a... More

I thought we'd struggle to fill a couple of hours here, but to my amazement, we spent over 4 hours! Lots of ww 1 displays, as well as scenes from houses across the historical periods. It cost £10 p adult (under 16 are free) and was very worthwhile.

By the name of the museum, you may think it is all about medieval history. In fact, it is a museum of varieties that happens to be located in a historical building. Exhibitions include: a replica of a Victorian street, a medieval prison, a gallery about the 60s and a section on the first world war. Interesting stuff though a... More

This is a large museum which features York in a bygone era. There are recreations of various rooms from different ages, a street from times past (the lighting shows it at night as well as day), a view of trench life as you walk through the imitation trenches, and so much more. The museum is clearly popular with all ages,... More

I loved this museum especially the Victorian street. Love the recreation of the shops and businesses. Played on the old arcade games. Saw people dressed up and they told you a bit about what life would have been like. Other rooms which have been done up in various periods and stuff from the sixties and fifties. Because the building used... More

We took our 14 year old students to this Museum and they liked it very much. All the exhibitions were very interesting and there were also some Hands on activities. Great place to visit and very friendly staff, too!

We visited in Easter week as a family. Purchasing tickets on the door was a slow process because of the need to collect names and addresses from those willing to gift aid the entrance fee. This needs looking at as the lobby is very small and any queue ends up outside in the rain! You could purchase quiz / trail... More
