I had been here when I was a teen-ager and wasn't scared but went this time with my mum and both of us were terrified and couldn't wait to get out of it

Screaming throughout, we're surprised anyone has enough breath to scream that long. We're glad you enjoyed your visit, sounds like you were "very guilty" of having a good time.

Not as good as Edinburgh dungeons, simple as that. I won't go into too much detail so I don't give any spoilers. Basically, I found that there were two parts of the tour that were good and gave you a bit of a shock. there's...More

The York Dungeon takes you through 2000 years of history, with each room representing a different era in the city's past. Although we lack in a ride, we can guarantee our cast of characters will reveal all the grisly details of York's murky history, down...More

The theme was slightly disjointed but a great tour all in all with a few scares & some laughs thrown in for good measure! Definitely recommended.

We take you on a journey through York's history and the major characters it has welcomed over the past 2000 years, but we're glad you found it such a great tour

As soon as you enter you walk into a dark room where you wait for your 'guide', takes a while for your eyes to adjust. Each room is well thought out and the guides are very entertaining. Only thing was my husband and I kept...More

Our guides must have been very fond of you and your husband, that or one of you definitely did have the plague...we're glad you enjoyed your visit though!

Been to all the dungeons and this is by far the scariest. Tells you so much about the history of York. And typical I got picked on and never been so frightened in my life. This is a must if you come to York

The scariest you say! What an amazing compliment, we're so glad you had a fantastic time.

Really good fun, the actors have lots of interaction with the members of public which makes this a really fun experience. Makes you jump, but not too scary!

We're glad we weren't too scary, otherwise you'd have missed all the fun bits too! Good to hear you had a great time.

Unfortunately there can sometimes be a wait, usually at busier times so that each group can have time to enjoy each show. But it's good to hear you had a brilliant time inside!

went in September and had a fantastic time. I'd been to London Dungeon previously and didn't really enjoy it but the actors at York are excellent, definitely recommend!

Actors? Don't you mean terrifying characters from history? You're right though, our actors are pretty excellent, sometimes we forget they're not the plague-ridden peasants of York from time to time...

Takes about 90 minutes to go through. Different scenes are set up with actor and actresses. People are randomly chosen to take part in each scene. Be careful as you might be expected to take part in the beheading as it happened to me.

Yes do be careful, we wouldn't want you to lose you head! Don't get ahead of yourself! We don't want you to head off in the wrong direction! We'll stop now...but we're very glad you enjoyed yourself.
