Very much impressed by the Minster. Beautifully preserved and kept. When you spend 20k daily for the upkeep this is what you get. Tour guides are very knowledgeable. Paid extra 5 pounds to climb up the central tower. Views of York are the best in the city!

So impressed by the effort they put into preserving the cathedral, especially the ongoing project on restoring the Great East Window. There are free guided tours (except Sunday) and also multimedia exhibition at the Great East Window which introduces stories/ background on the stained glass panels. Full restoration is expected in spring 2017 - will definitely come back and see... More

Price of entry to the York Cathedral was £10 which I felt was beyond my budget which was a little disappointing. I was not the only person to turn back after entering the front door only to be confronted by a slow moving queue of people.

A truly grand cathedral, beautiful windows, long history. Excellent self-guided tour of the history of the Minster and the city. Lots of important people buried here.

I was on a weekend break to york with my friend and we visited york minster. Very impressive building but found the £10 entrance fee a bit steep would have happily made a donation

The York Minster is absolutely stunning! The stain glass windows are marvelous as is the underground Roman museum.

Felt that paying to enter a religious building was a tad cheeky but I do subscribe to the view that they need maintaining. There are beautiful stained glass windows through out. We were lucky enough to hear the choir practicing. It's possible to climb the tower to view the city surrounds. A strenuous climb up narrow circular steps - it... More

It's been a long time since I last came to York and even longer since I visited the Minster. At that time an entry charge was not made but once you see a) how much it costs to maintain the place and b) how much there is to see it becomes obvious that they do need to charge. The ticket also... More
