Very picturesque and romantic walk around a very historic city. Would definitely keep a zombie horde at bay for a while. A must do when in the city especially when the trees are in blossom.

After walking along about 75% of the city walls, I cannot believe that there was talk at one time of tearing them down to make way for development. They are a treasure. The views from the wall, the different towers along the way...and I love...More

When leaving the train station to walk int the city you come across the start of the walls. They are a really good way of seeing part of the city and surrounds and make you feel the history of the place.

Walked the whole way round and enjoyed a different side of York to the shopping. Would not recommend for small children or pushchairs. Really good exercise along with the historical element, lots of steps and hills to climb.

The York Walls are a great way to navigate around York and well worth visiting. Built by the Normans they contain much history and stories, you can get great views of the minster from certain parts of the walls.

The views were beautiful! The walk lasted around 90minutes, with cafes and shops between the walls. It was a great day and I recommend it for tourists, people who like walking and people who own dogs. The paths are wide and on high ground their...More

The walk is a good walk around the city. Recommend a map as it is not always clear where the next part of the walls are at points. Due to modern building the views are not necessarily what you would expect.

Fantastically maintained and restored historic landmark with so much history over the centuries. Best to go on a tour to really find out the history of the walls from the Romans til now to really appreciate them. Absolutely stunning!

We never got the feeling like we could fall. There are high walls or fences and solid footing. If it's just being high, I think 20-30 feet at the most is it.

I am a tourist, and so cannot answer your question but York is a highly organised destination and so would be suprised if a German speaking tour was not available
