I was more than annoyed that walking a dog on the walls is not allowed. It compromised our visit to York. It seems needless and ridiculous

A good way to see the city of York is to walk around the city wall. You can really take in the surrounding area and imagine what it would of been like centuries ago.

Outstanding way to see York off the beaten path. It's like walking in people's back yards - which are beautifully landscaped - just as you imagine a traditional English garden to look.

The walls are part of what defines the city, and it is very pleasant to stroll along in the sunshine taking in a different perspective to the view one has in the street.

Walk around York City walls and imagine what it was like to be protected on the inside, excluded on the outside. If walls could talk they would have a million stories to tell, you can feel the history oozing from the stones. Great views and experience for all ages...a must for visitors to York.

The greater part of the heart of the city is surrounded by the mediëval wall. From these walls, you have really nice views on the old city center and surrounding areas on the other side. Nice experience.

The walls are incomplete around the whole city but you can walk it in sections which is quite exciting. TIP: no disability access and the steps are steep and the paths are narrow but you do get good views across York. This is good but not a must do
