This house & garden was donated to the National Trust by the family. The house is very airy & bright, unlike many properties in the National Trust that are dim & dark. The garden backs onto York racecourse, with lovely array of lavender.

Goddards house takes a little finding as it isn't well signposted but it is worth the effort. It's separated from the City Centre by the Racecourse on the A1036 and is quite a walk from the centre of York. There is only blue badge parking...More

Lovely Arts and Crafts house with a really nice garden, sectioned out into different "rooms", interesting to explore. The hidden gem is the food on offer. We enjoyed a cup of tea served properly, with tea pot, milk jug and sugar bowl, on the patio...More

We planned to visit this property and struggled to find it. We literally drove past it (unintentionally) and had to do a u-turn. It is very poorly signed for a NT property as normally you get a lot of road signs before you reach the...More

I happened upon this while staying at a hotel close by. The staff were so friendly, the house beautiful and the displays informative. Best of all are the gardens, some parts set formally others much less so. Great for a wander and explore. Tennis and...More

Electric scooters are allowed in the house but there is no lift so only the ground floor is accessible with an electric scooter.
