It's incredible these spectacular gardens aren't better known. We visited in September after friends told us about it, just a few days after a trip down south where we went round Sissinghurst and Great Dixter, neither of which had as much colour or amount of interest as Breezy Knees. The excellent layout of the borders is matched by the quality... More

An unexpected gem of a place. Walking through beautiful gardens is always my idea of heaven, these are so lovely. Each area different, when you enter the next garden a different feel. Err breezy knees yes, even on the most beautiful of days it can be a bit chilly

We were surprised by the size of the property and the amount of flowers still in bloom in late September. The property is well maintained and well worth a visit.

I just couldn't believe how large the overall garden was, with each area an entire garden in its own right. Some areas are designed for interest in a particular month (May, June and September, for example), while others are laid out in garden styles, with pools, herbaceous borders, sweeping lawns and arboreta. We were late arriving and rushed around in... More

We visited on a whim after a suggestion from parents, and it was a wonderful idea. Lots of beautiful gardens in different themes, plenty of space to enjoy the colour and variety of plants. Some areas aren't wheelchair accessible, but they are clearly marked and most of the gardens are accessible. A lovely afternoon out in the sun (when it's... More

It's like a maze in some ways.. Lots of different garden styles to visit but a tad difficult to work out your route. That said maybe it is best to just "discover" each garden as you wander around :) When you take into account how recent the gardens have been created it's all the more impressive. :) It was looking... The first time I visited was with my boyfriend who took me. We went in May and there weren't a lot of flowers out but it was a nice day and lovely. I told my family about it, all of which have been and loved it and we have all been back with other people. It is suitable for pushchairs.... More

We've been to many famous gardens but Breezy Knees beats them all! Our only regret is that we don't live closer otherwise we'd visit every month to watch the gardens evolve through the seasons. York has many sights worth seeing but this is the best of the lot.

We visited the gardens in early September and still found them very beautiful. Cannot wait to visit the well laid out gardens again in summer next year.

Beautiful gardens with so many varieties of plants. Trees are so vibrant and healthy as are the plants. Lots of walking. Toilets only at entrance. Cafe closed Monday and Tuesday. Some RHS days - check. Closes end of September until May so get a move on and get there whilst it's glorious.
