Excellent show, hugely funny and well worth the miles we travelled to see it! We had a bit of difficulty finding the entrance to the theatre but once in it was great. We had seats at the side which gave us an excellent view and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

This theatre goes from strength to strength. There are two houses and in one productions are mounted that are produced in house. These productions invariably receive fantastic reviews in the national press and it is not uncommon for productions first delivered in Northampton to go to London.

We visit the Derngate Theatre often but on this occasion we found the production to be of a lower standard than usual and the volume when playing the Kinks music was mind blowing to the extent that I had my fingers in my ears for the first half and we did not return after the break for the second half.... We had seats in the stalls, several rows from the stage, there was plenty of leg room and the sears were comfortable, all of the people that we met that work in the theatre were very friendly. We had a drink in the John Franklin bar before the show, nice way to start the evening. We got the the theatre... More

Party of four visited The Royal and Derngate to see the rather excellent production of the Kinks musical 'Sunny Afternoon'. The venue is well laid out; our seats were towards the rear of the circle, but we could see and hear the show just fine. The seats are not the most comfortable in my opinion; I was suffering from 'numb-bum'... More

Having seen the Kinks musical Sunny Afternoon at the Harold Pinter theatre in London's West End and enjoyed it tremendously, I was excited to hear that a touring production was coming to my home town. Sadly, the touring company weren't a patch on the London cast, with the two actors playing Ray and Dave Davies bringing it uncomfortably close to... More

How lucky Northampton is to have this complex. The Royal theatre retains its Victorian feel. The Derngate bigger and perfect for touring shows and the Errol Flynn Filmhouse spoils you so you don't want to go to any other cinema. Saw Sunny Afternoon, having already seen it in London and it was just as good. Love visiting this place.

Have visited a couple of times now and enjoy the visit. A decent sized theatre with comfortable seats. The toilets were clean. There is St John's close by where you can take you parking ticket to be validated at the theatre counter for reduced rate parking. A few meters from the theatre is a little corner shop if you want...
