Visit Roman Vindolanda today and you will find one of the North East’s most famous and not to be missed tourist attractions lying in the beautiful landscape of Hadrian's Wall Country. Formerly a key military post on the northern frontier of Britain, Vindolanda is the home of Britain's 'Top Treasure' - the Vindolanda Writing Tablets - and is one Europe's most important Roman archeological sites, with live excavations taking place every year. The recently fully refurbished on site museum provides a breathtaking exploration of the Trust's ongoing discoveries and accounts of Roman life. There are no other places on earth where it is possible to experience Roman Britain, Hadrian's Wall and history coming to life before your very eyes all in one space! Come and explore it for yourself and find out why Vindolanda is treasured worldwide.

Great day out and absolutely fascinating. Good museums with plenty to see. Worth buying the guide book so you find out more detail than the placards outside of the ruins.

This is our second visit and they now have a great museum and some great work has been done there, and they continue to dig. You can buy a double ticket to visit the Roman army museum, does save money a a great museum.

Fascinating items - so many shoes and so modern looking some of them! All in all a very good place to visit together with the Roman Army Museum 10 minutes away. Buy a joint ticket.

We visited this on a Saturday in November. The museum is easy to find. We loved the writing tablets which give unique insight in Roman life. Fascinating! Also liked the collection of shoes!

This is a large site which can take some time to explore the entire thing. It is still the site of archaeological work, which is interesting to know they're still turning up new artefacts and information. We were unfortunately pressed for time in our visit,...More
