There are several routes onto Kinder Scout from the Edale Valley. The usual tourist route via Barber Booth and Jacobs Ladder is the most crowded and least impressive - try Grindsbrook Clough or, if you feel adventurous, Crowden Brook. The summit is a bit difficult to locate as it is a small rise in a sea of grass-covered peat 600... More

Due to the lack of rain the walk was dry underfoot and a pleasure to visit. The sun was shining and not too many people about. The views are spectacular when the weather is good. The walk we did was 7 miles and took around 4 hours with lots of stops along the way.

We walked up the route from Edale that follows the stream and waterfall from near the top. The views were fantastic. It was challenging enough to keep our 14 year old interested, but I'd imagine it could be quite a tricky climb in poor weather. From the top a less challenging path can be followed back down that ultimately brings... More

We visited Kinder Scout during the Easter bank holiday '17. The route up is relatively easy and straight forward but Jacob's ladder may be a little tricky for kids or the elderly as the stones are slippery and difficult to climb towards the top. However, don't let this stop you, the views are worth the pain. Kinder Scout is by... More

Me and my partner visited kinder scout on Easter Sunday. Unfortunately it was a really rainy day however this did not effect our enjoyment at all. Such a nice hike with bouldering all the way to the top and beautiful scenery. I'm not a really experienced walker so was a bit worried if I would be able to do it... More

Whether you're a seasoned hiker or Sunday walker Kinder Scout is a fantastic place to visit in the Peak district. I've been here several times and usually do a circuit east or west from Edale. Jacobs ladder is a good workout for the lungs and legs and once up on the plateau you can walk fir miles along edges and... More

First time to kinder and it's pretty shameful when you think that I've lived in Derbyshire since day 1.!!! It was a cold day in buxton but the conditions were pretty sound. Off we tottered from buxton, which is about 20 mins or so . There was no room in the carpark at bowden bridge end so we parked on... More

We took a route from Hayfield up William Clough, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is reasonably fit. To make sure if its winter to leave enough time to get up and down, we did it in a 9 mile loop, because of the accent this may take you significantly longer than you would expect, just dependents on how...
