This is only a small museum, but well worth the visit. It is very peaceful in the grounds, the staff are lovely and have good knowledge about the history. The buildings and machinery are fascinating. Don't be put off if you are a male visitor, the machinery is mind boggling. You'll love this place.

Ruddington Framework Knitter's Museum is an excellent museum if you are interested in Nottingham's textile history and very good if you are interested in social / living history. However, if you are just coming here on the 'off chance' or for something to do, you may be disappointed, as it is not an 'all singing, all dancing' museum. I am... More

Went there once & wouldn't go again. One visit is enough. A little bit of history, but not much else.

Hello Thanks for taking time to write a review, we appreciate all feedback. I'm sorry you were disappointed with your visit, I hope my team invited you to have-a-go on the circular knitting machines and you were able to see a machine in action. Yes the site is very history focused but we hope that the various workshops and houses... More

We were told about this place and how good it is so we decided to visit, Talk about great things in little packages , it is fascinating to see the old workers cottages and their place of work. The machine's are housed in the original buildings, spitting distance from the front door of the workers cottages. There's a nice little... More

The museum shows one aspect of the industrial revoluntion where Nottingham was at the forefront. You see a short video giving the background to framework knitting then go upstairs to see and try out the knitting machines which make socks. Across to another building and you learn about the luddites and then go upstairs to see an array of knitting... More

Having lived less than 5 miles away from this museum for over 10 years we finally decided to vist having seen that they were also opening an art gallery there. Although on a small site this museum is really interesting; from the short videos telling the history, to seeing the various knitting machines demonstrated, the pretty flower borders outside, and... My husband and I visited the framework knitters museum as my family for centuries have been lace manufacturers and frame work knitters so I had a personal interest in this. Staff are so well informed and very friendly.

Fascinating little museum about the lives and work of the Nottingham stockingers. You can even have a go on the stocking machine. Particularly knowledgeable and helpful staff. Arranged round a small courtyard as it would have been at the time. Lots to see and a tiny cafe. Would suit all ages.

This was a great afternoon out for the family. We arrived in time for a special half-term children's activity which my niece thoroughly enjoyed (us adults did too!). We then looked around the museum and chatted to very knowledgeable volunteers who shared lots of information about the history and workings of the framework knitters. There were several interactive activities and... More
