More
A magnificent 17th century ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle. The Castle has a turbulent past, linked to kings and conquerors and still has a maze of original caves hidden beneath its imposing walls. Now the building houses a Museum & Art Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to see the best regional, national and international art in the regularly changing exhibition galleries. Plus the permanent exhibitions showcase costume and textiles, silverware, glass and a glimpse into Nottingham's history.

The cave tours (£5 extra) are the real thing if you look for a historic visit; the castle is otherwise your typical museum. Guides Mark and Richard really know the place around and it’s history, and make your visit a unique one. Would recommend going...More

What a fantastic evening! We were greeted at the castle entrance by our guide for the evening, David. Throughout the tour, he was an informative, amusing, friendly, attentive, and, in short, brilliant guide. He shepherded us along the route through the grounds through the grounds,...More

Castle is not the right word for this place. It’s a stately home with a terrible collection of ‘modern art’ but the view is breathtaking

Interesting museum if you are in the area. Unfortunately nothing left from the original Norman castle. The museum displays some antiquities, jewelry, paintings.
