We're really lucky to have the Contemporary in Nottingham and I've never been disappointed by an exhibition yet. They get good stuff and curate it well in what is a compact space. I'm a massive exponent of free access to the arts (as sport is...More

We sat across the road in the excellent Veeno wine bar watching the clouds of steam rising and wafting with shifting patterns from the gallery roof and found it strangely fascinating. So we went across the road to explore further. Free admission with friendly and...More

Hi - We're so glad that you had such a nice time - and that the 'steam' inspired your visit! Thanks for the review.

If you gave an hour or so to spare in Nottingham then have a look at the contemporary art museum, they have a good exhibition with Wu Tsang and Lara Favaretto. The videos are very good and Lara has some great pieces. Nottingham contemporary is...More

This is a big building in the middle of Nottingham. We saw 4 big galleries, each with one exhibit, and one with a film showing. I think the space could have been used better. Lots of staff present.More

Thanks for your comments. We change our exhibitions every three months or so. You'll be amazed how much the space can transform from show to show. We have an event on this Thursday evening with artist Lorenzo Sandoval - who'll be exploring how space is...More

I've visited the Nottingham Contemporary many times and always leave feeling something different, something I love about art. Not everyone likes contemporary art but you should give the Nottingham Contemporary a try. Art will always lead to divided opinions and I think some of the...More

Thank you so much for your comments. You're right, art does divide opinion, and that's one of the pleasures of working here!

Love having this on my doorstep. Some exhibitions can be a little strange and not everyones cup of tea so its worth checking their listings but overall I love it . Plus the cafe is great to drop into for a coffee and meet friends.

Thank you so much for the kind words - we're proud of the role we play in the city. Glad you enjoy what we do.

I have a schizophrenic attitude towards this gallery. I like the internal exhibition spaces. I'm neutral about the outside design of the building. I like some of the exhibitions, but unfortunately, not many of them. Most of the major ones I have been to, such...More

I think your points are very interesting - and in some ways they chime with what the artist is trying to portray. This exhibition has created lots of discussion - but where the 'enjoyment' lies is with the viewer - and it's fascinating to see...More

If you like modern art and want something different this is the place. Never afraid to challenge and try out something 'out there' The Contemporary' is one of the best modern art venues I know.

Oh dear, not good at all. I'm not sure visitors who really 'get' contemporary art (not us!) would find much of interest here. The unattractive modern building sticks out like a sore thumb next to the lovely other old Lace Market properties including the (former)...More

Thank you for your comments. Our building has divided opinion since it opened - some seem to love it, and some are less keen, but we're always eager to hear opinions! If you do change your mind, we have lots of fun things to do...More

The title says it all. I know that modern art is very subjective, but it is the endless stream of nonsense explaining the exhibits that gets me. Endless yards of meaningless rubbish and I just wonder what world these people actually live in. If you...More

We're very pleased to read feedback like yours, because it shows us how a lot of people feel about contemporary art, and our venue. We'll keep working hard to make what we do as accessible to a wide audience. We take pride in trying to...More
