The Sheldonian Theatre, an exquisite Grade I listed building situated in Oxford's city centre, is the official ceremonial hall of Oxford University. The Theatre is a popular tourist attraction particular because it offers one of the best indoor...more

The Sheldonian Theatre offers an entirely unique piece of architecture that stands at the centre of a number of other beautifully designed buildings. It is a very photogenic building and is great for a photo that captures the magnificence of Oxford!
The outside of this building is delightful and everyone should see and admire it. We paid for entry and found it very underwhelming. It seemed relatively plain and even the views from the cupola were quite average and obscured by dirty windows. No doubt when...More
This was my second favorite building in Oxford after the Radcliffe Camera. This building is used for all the official ceremonies at Oxford and is so very picturesque (as are most buildings designed by Wren). A must when you are in Oxford.
We weren't' able to do a tour so just bought the tickets for self tour through the theatre and up to the cupola. The views from the top are fantastic. In the theatre you can feel the history of academia.
It was so much fun to be in Oxford and see for myself all the places where Morse, Lewis and Endeavour walk,
had a great walking tour with Heidi who remembers an astounding number of things from different movies!

Excellent value for money (£3 approx). The theatre itself is lovely with a beautiful painted ceiling, but for me the highlight of the visit was the spectacular view over Oxford from the cupola; definitely worth the climb.
Lovely theatre (though I wasn't there for a performance) with lovely architecture and painted ceiing. And affordable entrance fee (£3.50/£2.50). Not too difficult a climb to the top - interesting historical display boards in the attic, where you can also see the sturdy timbers of...More
