The Sheldonian Theatre, an exquisite Grade I listed building situated in Oxford's city centre, is the official ceremonial hall of Oxford University. The Theatre is a popular tourist attraction particular because it offers one of the best indoor panoramic views of Oxford's famous skyline from its Cupola. It was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and built between 1664 and 1669. The Theatre offers self-guided tours or guided tours. On a one hour guided tour, you get to learn about how the University was formed, how long it's been in existence and the secrets of its past. Excellent value for money (£3 approx). The theatre itself is lovely with a beautiful painted ceiling, but for me the highlight of the visit was the spectacular view over Oxford from the cupola; definitely worth the climb.

It is a nice building contains with lots of historical story. It is magnificent for everyone to visit and recommended when you go to Oxford.

Another "step back in time" experience. The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra plays there and it is top quality Our tickets were about $45 each but it was well worth it. We didn't see the full symphony but violins and strings and it was fabulous. Don't miss...More

We had the great pleasure to watch our son as he graduated from Saint Johns College in this historic building. The experience was unique, and the entire ceremony was in Latin! The history in this building and its surroundings is mind altering, and amazing
