We stayed at St. Hilda's for two weeks for a class we were teaching. Our undergraduates loved Oxford and immediately adopted the concept of being "Hildabeasts." OK, you may not want to do this but the site is lovely, right on the Cherwell, over the Magdalen Bridge and the rooms in which we stayed were en suite, quiet, and lovely.... More

As mentioned in earlier reviews this college is very often overlooked. It's a beautiful college at the Riverside with a great atmosphere! The porters are always very friendly and willing to help. St. Hilda's College may not be as old and massive as other colleges but definitely not worth being missed! It's only a few minutes away from Magdalen College... More

St Hilda's is often missed by virtue of being slightly further out of town than most of the other colleges, but the various gardens are lovely, the college is set right on the river, and the view over to Christ Church Meadows are great. No entrance fee, so worth a wander around if you are on that side of Oxford.

Ok, this is convenient if you are at a conference, or cheap if that is what you need. Mobile and internet receiption is non-exisitent. There is Wifi if you can persuade them to give it to you. I was at a conference for an internet commuity and we were promised Wifi but it was still an effort to actually get... More

Tucked away in the grounds of St Hilda's college, many people miss this lovely intimate concert hall. It was built in 1995 to commemorate Jacqueline du Pre and it runs an interesting and varied programme of chamber music and instrumental music. During term time there are lunchtime concerts on Thursdays and there are also community concerts for children and for... More

St hildas is opposite magdalen & a short walk down cowley lane. It was founded in 1893 by the principal of cheltenham ladies college and it STILL has the atmosphere of a girls private school - a little sad in a way that men had to be admitted from 2008! You enter through the lodge where friendly porters hand you... More

In contrast to the majestic architecture of the typical central Oxford colleges is a calmer and more relaxed college on the banks of the river Cherwell. The atmosphere is really friendly and the college has a subtle charm. Definitely worth walking an extra ten minutes to see another side to Oxford's famous university. Sign in at the lodge at the...
