This is a great place for a quiet walk, hidden away on the outskirts of Reading/West Berks area. You are right in the countryside. Walk up to the woods and cut through to Sulham or walk down to the track and walk or cycle to Pangbourne or Tidmarsh. Splendid way to kill a few hours and get some fresh air.

I used to live in Calcot, about 30 minutes walk from Pincents Hill. Best enjoyed by bicycle, there are lots of trails you can cycle and take some good photos of this icon Reading structure.

Enjoyed walking around this spot and hearing the legend behind the tower. We also walked in a nature preserve nearby and a copse. I had no idea wahat a copse was, so our friend informed us

I was out cycling recently in Reading and decided to see if I could get from IKEA to the western outskirts of Reading by road. You can but not by car. After passing a narrow barrier in Pincents Lane you climb a longish hill and suddenly in an open field on the left appears a strange tower. It was apparently... More

If you like curiosities and are in the Reading area, this is one to go and see. It's within a short walking distance of Savacentre and IKEA by J12 of the M4, on the Nuneham farm estate. It's just a tower, but the whole area around has some good walking and there's a nature reserve about a mile away across... More

Saw this place on trip advisor and thought it'd be worth a go! If you look on google maps it comes under 'Wilders folley'. Not sure why everyone thinks it's difficult to find, we parked on pincents lane and followed the only walking track down to find it. It's pretty much just a tower that you admire and It was... More

Based on above reviews, i thought of exploring this place and yes it is very, very difficult to find, located at no mans land, you cant sit anywhere or there is nothing that you want to remember about this place. Awful experience. Don't waste time rather have a pint and relax!

Very bewitching place, but very difficult to find. Towers name in Google maps is Wilder's Folly. I recommend for evening romantic journey.

I have lived in Tilehurst, Reading for 30 years and often walked and explored the surrounding areas. I recently moved to Theale and was a bit upset that I would no longer be near Pincents lane and the surrounding countryside.... However if you walk behind Theale Golf Course and follow the footpath signs this links up with Tilehurst and the... More
