Yes not a lot to see above ground, bar the amphitheatre & city wall, pleasant walk & it's all free including the carpark, nice views of the countryside around. Exposed to the elements.

Nice walk around wall to amphitheatre, lots of wild flowers and butterflies to look at during mid summer and very tranquil. There is not much of the remains to see but it was a pleasant enough walk. A bit gravelly with some uneven footing so...More

Large Roman ruins with the amphitheatre my particular favourite. Flat site so easy to walk and information boards dotted around.

Nice place for a walk but you need to use a lot of imagination. The route is well signposted and evidence of walls and an amphitheatre are present but in many case you will need to imagine

I am surprised that Silchester seems so overlooled and little knownn. Only the walls remain but they make a spectacular circular walk in an amazing historical context. Don't forget to drop in at the local church which is also beautiful. There is plenty of parking...More

The walls and the Roman city are a great place to walk around, especially when the digs are on! So much history here! Don't miss the Amphitheatre over the road or a visit to the church.

Roman walls. Only. I expected some towers, gates, maybe some wooden-made.. that would be realy interesting. It is good walking on fields, but It is realy sad they dont keep it, somewhere trees damage the walls..

It holds the light the longest as the days shorten, so you can just get away with a later walk in the Winter, lovely for dogs. Mushrooms and puff balls in the field. Look into the church too, it has a rood screen. It stays...More

Yes, dogs are allowed, we often walk our dogs here. Sometimes there are cattle grazing and they have to be on the lead through the churchyard, but in general it's a nice place to walk dogs

I am almost certain you could walk as far as the amphitheatre on a fairly even path and so it would be wheelchair friendly.
