from the town centre you can walk along the canel all the way to Sonning if you want a long walk,or a short walk you can take in the Forbury gardens the Abbey ruines the main shopping centre with a selection of eating places.

I do love canals. I find them very picturesque and therapeutic. I've lived by the River Kennet almost all my life so it's kind of special to me. There are lots of beautiful spots by this river, hungerford especially comes to mind.

Easy to choose a part of the canal to walk from varies guides etc., Generally easy parking near to the canal, tow paths can be muddy in some areas. Can include loops off into the countryside & then back along the canal. Various pubs etc....More

Went with a couple of friends from Aldermarston to Reading and onto the Thames. A great way to spend a relaxing long weekend. We hired a canal boat from Aldermarston Wharf, the weather was perfect and it was idyllic

Perfect afternoon walk. Nice and quiet, very picturesque. Plenty of wildlife to see. Very interesting to watch the boats in the locks. Perfect for cycling.
