Came here for the first time in 1991 for the World Student Games and a few times after that for athletics, back when some Sheffield folk still pronounced it atholetics. Drive past recently and sadly it's no more. This should never have been knocked down....More
Been today to view the rubble of what was once the Don Valley Stadium. At it's best time it served it's purpose but unfortunately Sheffield council under invested in this place which has potential to be a lot more and hold big events.
Built for the World Student Games probably two decades ago, Don Valley Arena was built on the brownfield site of one of Sheffields now defunct steel works.
