I did this walk today - inspired by my friend who ran the 100km Peak Challenge and who I helped crew for in the wee hours of this morning. This was extremely lightweight in comparison - but more suited to my fitness level. Granted it was a lovely day for it, but this walk would still be enjoyable in the... More

As with most things in Sheffield this is almost but not quite perfect. The walk is reasonably well signed however there are a few places when one has to negotiate busy urban roads. This is a shame as alternative plans were originally suggested that would have avoided such need. Having said this, and provided you're not squashed by a truck,... More

This walk gives a new perspective - you get a better feel for the city. At one time, when I was a boy, you couldn't have done this walk and wouldn't want to if you could have. It would have been oily turbid water that had an industrial smell. It's a very good walk now. You can't get a real... More

We biked the five weir walk and found it to be cycle friendly. Signs are clear and easy to follow through to Meadowhall retail park but then it gets tricky as you cycle along the side of the busy roads. Some of the views of the river are interesting as I saw a crane some geese and fishermen

We did this in two halves, in two separate lunchtimes. One from just behind Castle Market (as was) and the other from Meadowhall. The walk is an eclectic mix of paved paths with interesting bridges (watch out for the spiders!), dirt paths through woodland, and wide cycle paths. Some parts are very secluded, some are busy and open and it... More

My wife and I did this walk on a nice sunny Saturday, it is a very good walk from the city to Meadowhall, you walk next to the river Don and then when you get to Meadowhall change over to the canal and walk back to the city

Good to do on the Sunday. I had a few hours to spare before leaving. Weather was good and makes a pleasant work.

Okay, so this isn't the most picturesque walk you will do, but it is interesting. Where else could you cover greenery, aquatic nature, industrial ruggedness and scenes from The Full Monty in one wander? This trail is as much a walk through Sheffield's manufacturing past as it an example of nature's power to reclaim and restore. Wander far enough and... More
