Ludlow Castle is an unusually complete range of medieval buildings with a varied history evident within its walls. We are host to a number of events that run between April and November, information of which is available at the local tourist information centre and on our website.

Castle House was one of the last grand mansions built in Ludlow. It was sympathetically restored in 2006 by the current Earl of Powis and provides a range of Independent shops, Tea Rooms with an idyllic outside terrace during the summer months; function rooms that are available for civil ceremonies, weddings, parties, wakes, meetings

The 3 no. self catering apartments are available for 3, 4 and 7 night stays. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, well equipped kitchens and sitting/dining rooms and views of the castle that are unparalleled.

The Tea Room is a traditional English tea room with a glazed Courtyard, Pantry, Study and Garden Terrace. It is child and dog friendly with a welcoming and enthusiastic team, serving something for everyone. There are loose-leaf teas, cafeteria coffees, fresh juices and quality wines. A range of freshly prepared cakes and cream teas are available all day.

There is a lovely walk around the outside of the castle where you are surrounded by natural woodland and outstanding views of the castle walls, River Teme and Whitcliffe Common.

It is a nice and very interesting building in a lovely historic town. Although it is a ruin, the castle has an impressively large structure and somevery interesting architectural features. Stunning the views from the top. That said, some of the grounds are a bit neglected and in certain part of the structure some artificial lighting would certainly help to... More

Taken by the Parliamentarian Army in 1646, never recovered after the civil war and in 1689 fell into neglect. There is a shop and cafe rooms and a restaurant to visit.

We really enjoyed our visit to Ludlow castle. It's fairly small and not much to see in terms of rooms as it's all ruins basically but the views at the top are maginificent so it's worth a visit for the views alone. The castle is situated in the town itself which is small and pretty but busy with quite a... More

Had a fun day at Ludlow with the family. A super place to let the imagination go and play hide and seek with the littlies.

We were here in between Christmas and New Year with a very heavy fog / mist. We skipped it the first day because of the weather but braved it the next because this gave it a sense of medieval mystery. The castle is a bare shell but the tickets map lets you know where the old rooms and buildings used... More

We visited the castle on Boxing Day; so it was a cold winter's day, but it was still a very enjoyable visit were one's imagination could go into overdrive. Our party included the very young to the not so young. Well worth a visit and I guess more so in the summer when there are other attractions/events taking place. On... More

Truly wonderful place to visit, in fantastic position, much still intact, where you can let your imagination run riot. Some truly splendid remnants of what existed in the past. Ludlow iteself is lovely historic town, with beautiful buildings and very friendly people.

So pleased you enjoyed your visit. As the castle is a ruin you do need an imagination but it breathes its history and Ludlow Town has a wealth of history and local providers More

A mostly well preserved castle, featuring heavily in the Wars of the Roses and various other problems with the boundary between England and Wales in far off times. Well worth a visit.

Thank you for your review, although a ruin we are constantly working on areas that need preserving and it is always good when that is recognised. More

Visited the castle on a very cold day but loved every minute . So much to see and so much history and only £5 entry fee !!! I questioned why so cheap compared to other historic sites . It's because it's privately owned but I still think it's cheap ! Friendly efficient staff and lovely shop .Excellent tea room on... More
