This stunning house is a national treasure. The elderly owner is charming but a little eccentric. He will tell you about the house but really this building should be under the care of The National Trust or similar organisation. The Tudor ceilings are beautiful. Don't miss this house.

We went to the Christmas Fayre 26th November as a coach day trip, then we wished we were there for the weekend. We were there for five hours, could have done with longer.....my husband says it is because I talk too much too much to every one. The Christmas Fayre was held within the castle grounds and does cost to... More

We went to Ludlow to visit the castle but found that it was only open at the weekends in Winter. As this was Tuesday, we turned our attention to Castle Lodge next door. There was a board outside telling us to visit an original tudor house...so we did. We rang the bell and a very old gentleman opened the door.... More

After reading reviews and speaking to our landlady we expected a strange eccentric man to let us in, take the money and disappear, but we must have caught him on a good day. He mentioned how cold it was and he had put the heater on to give the place a chance and I guess he sits in the lower... More

On a dark, cold new years eve we were taken to Castle Lodge by friends. Welcomed in by Bill Pearson the owner we paid our £3 and were left to look around all the floors alone. It is certainly an unforgettable place, fantastic fireplaces, incredible wood panelling, fabulous moulded and painted plaster ceilings and a glorious window with stained glass... More

This building is a "hidden" gem in Ludlow and for that matter in England. I find it surreal that people only pay £3 to get in...£3 is the price of a forgettable coffee these days from some multinational...and then complain about the place. Talk about the dumbed down generation that has to be "entertained" every conceivable minute of the day!... More

We rang the doorbell to be greeted by an elderly Gentleman, who ushered us inside. We handed over our £3 each adult. There followed a brief description of the history and interior of the house, very brief. We were then left to explore the house at our leisure. Draw dropping wood panelling and fireplace greeted us, recovered from Henry VIII's... More

Met by an old gent who seemed to be living in times past took our money three pounds then left us to wander around the house would have been nice to have some boards telling us history of the house but we understand it is being sold so when looking in to the rooms you have to think of what... It is some time since our visit but it remains in our minds, possibly for the wrong reasons. Entrance fee was nominal, and a huge fire blazed in the hearth, all very promising. However empty rooms, an insistence by the owners that they had seen the ghost of Catherine of Arragon, and their belief in a world wide Jewish Conspiracy... More

I can confirm that the owner, ?William? is still around and showing us into his house at 3 quid a go. Two of the paintings of ?Henry VIII s wives are for sale, money is tight and he is living in a beautiful house with no support SHAME ON ENGLISH HERITAGE The timber panelling is 800 years old in places...
