    While you're here!
Seems like a waste to visit Bath and not check out the Roman Baths. Took about an hour to casually walk-through. It's a bit expensive but should still be done once. Free audio guide included which helped explained the history of what we were seeing. We visited in Sept as the summer crowds were starting to die down.

This is a must see if you are in the UK
The Roman Baths were one of the most interesting things that we saw in the UK. These were not discovered until the past century or so. Amazing engineering and social gathering spot for the time. This can be crowded at times so go early and wear a mask.

Outstanding, the number 1 thing to do in Bath.
Undoubtedly the star attraction in Bath. This site is just historically important, it’s seriously interesting the walk around. The audio tour is an in-depth and insightful guide to what you are seeing. If you are coming to Bath, this is the one thing you must do.

    Amazing step back in time
You can book your tickets on line, £22.50 senior ticket on a weekday. It is a very well set out experience with an audio included in the price, each point had a number to hear about the historical fact. We were there for over two hours, it flew by and it was fascinating. A step back in time that shouldn’t be missed, I would highly recommend.
We're so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your visit and that you found the audioguide helpful to learn more about the site. Thank you for visiting.

Don't be put off by the price, definitely worth a visit.
I was bit worried about the price but was certainly worth the money. Definitely allow 3 hours for this. There is far more than it appears to be from the outside. The audio tour is well thought out and you can pick and choose what is of interest for adults and children. You can even try the water fresh from the spring... which is an acquired taste. My partner liked it, a bit warm and salty for me personally.

    Brilliant Staff
Feels like your going back in time, walking right where the Romans walked thousands of years ago! Greatly preserved, and all the staff are so enthusiastic to be there and tell you all about it. One staff member (who's name escapes me, my apologies) was so enthusiastic and happy to explain all about the baths and the romans to my granddaughter. It was a great experience and my granddaughter has come away asking to learn more about the Romans! Great experience all around, thank you!

    Significant piece of ancient history!
The Baths were fascinating and interesting but, it was way too crowded with Groups of certain people hovering around the artifacts taking photos of themselves which, interfered from us really seeing the historical significance of this ancient history! This is a very interesting and a significant part of history so, highly recommend as a tourist destination!!
Thank you for your review and for recommending the Roman Baths. The Roman Baths is one of the country’s most popular historic attractions and at times this does mean it can get busy. We have recently introduced timed ticketing with a limited number of tickets available in each slot. This has helped to ease the flow of people through the museum and around the baths complex. The middle of the day is usually the most popular time to visit, so for a quieter experience we recommend booking tickets for just after opening time (currently 9am), or later in the day after 3pm. Throughout the summer holidays we also stay open until 10pm, and thoroughly recommend an evening visit. We do hope you will be able to come again another time when we are not so busy.

Bath is beautiful, but the Roman Baths are very special
I have wanted to get to Bath to visit the Roman Baths for a long time. The opportunity presented itself in the last month. I booked on line, downloaded the audio tour, bought the guise and made my visit. SPLENDID. What a treat. Well worth the money and a great entertaining visit.

Lot to explore, full of interesting history
Pleasantly surprised to find complimentary audio guide included in the ticket price with lots of options from the standard, to Bill Bryson commentary and a version aimed for children. Surprised to see how big the site is and how much there is to explore. The walking system was easy to follow. Well worth half a day spent listening and reading the fascinating history of how this was built and used by the Romans. Don’t forget to taste the water at the end.

We paid £25 each for pre-booked ticked which I would say is £15 too much for this type of attraction. In these strange covid times they state they are limiting numbers and only so many in 15 minute time period are allowed in. There were so many let in that when our time slot appeared we joined what appeared to be the worlds longest and slowest moving queue.
It was painfully slow. From the top balcony we could see a dribble of one person allowed out at a time to the main pool below. By the time we got to the main pool they were letting far more out as they must have realised that the queue was just getting longer and longer.
On the indoor bits of the queue we obviously had to wear masks but there was no social distancing. People had been told to leave 2 metre but this did not happen. Absolutely crammed in like a busy tube train. Horrendous and terrible in these covid times. When there were stairs in the queue there was an attendant telling people to keep a distance but no one at all in the main corridor queue. On our mini tour of England we went to many attractions, bars and restaurants who all took covid far more seriously in actions as well as words.
The baths themselves are fine but there’s only so long you want to see them for - not for hours like the slow shuffle made us.

The staff were probably the least friendly we’ve encountered. From the outside queue asking grumpily if we were absolutely sure we were in the right queue to the attendents around the queue inside. One exception was the lady who scanned our tickets who gave us a warm and friendly reception.

I’m sure many people will say they ‘have’ to visit the baths but...go prepared for a long wait.

Nowadays Roman Bath structure raised on a place of roman hot baths of Aqua Sulis. This sightseeing is a must when in Bath, both Temple of Minerva Sulis including hot pool feeding from Kings Springs and accompanying museum exhibition are very interesting indeed.
Note that there is no actual bath or spa on the site, this site is just an exposition. Actual operating spa is situated nearby and has a separate entarnce, with pool placed on the top floors of a new higher building. There is also a smaller spa across the street - Cross Baths, a separate structure standing at a ground level and feeding from the Cross Spring.
Tickets to the both can be bought in advance or bought on spot in the ticket office of the bigger spa.

Really enjoyed visiting the Roman Baths. It was much bigger than I expected and really interesting to see all the different aspects which are very similar to modern day spas!
We pre-booked online which meant that the entrance fee was slightly cheaper and we were able to by-pass the queue. We visited on a Saturday during half-term but booked for 09:30 and it didn’t feel too busy or crowded.
Would recommend.

We pre booked tickets for the Roman baths as you cannot be granted access without doing so. Social distancing was brilliantly executed by staff members and it didn’t bare any negative connotations on our experience whatsoever. The audio guide was engaging and simple to use, but we were most impressed with the value for money. Our initial expectations were blown out of the water by how immersive the museum was. It’s such a beautiful and historic location. An absolute must when visiting Bath.

Not much to look at from the outside having done no research we went into the baths because we were in Bath. Probably one of the most impressive Roman sites I have ever been to. A combination of the scale, complexity and the engineering makes the place very impressive. We did not use the audio guide. There are plenty of signs explaining what everything is and several very informative architectural models. In many of the large spaces they have projections onto gauze of how the baths might have been used. All very clever. We spent about 45 minutes there but could easily have spent longer. The Roman Baths are part of a series of museums including the Fashion Museum and Victoria Gallery for which you can buy a group ticket which proved to be much cheaper in the long run.

Hello, Thank you for your review. We are pleased you decided to visit and that you enjoyed your time with us. It is amazing that when you are standing outside our entrance, you are standing 20 ft above Roman street level and the ancient Roman remains below.

Visted on a Saturday afternoon.
Whilst it was intestering and informative to visit, we felt that the experience was let down by COVID measures.
Each 15 minute ticket sime slot allows 40-50 people per time, which results in lots of queueing throughout the exhibit. We were there for just over an hour, and probably spent 15-20 minutes of that queueing, so it didn't feel like good value for money.

Very interesting and a must do in when visiting Bath!

Tickets must be pre-booked due to COVID and these can be purchased at the price of £21 per adult via their own web site. Initially pricey but in fairness, well worth the price when we were there!

You get a free audio which will help you and guide you through. Also some actors throughout the tour will give you a visual educational lesson too.

We visited at our allotted time and were offered the use of the toilets as we entered, I advise you to take up this offer as you will not have access again until the end of the visit. As our tickets were scanned told that there would be some queuing at some points due to the one way system to prevent the spread of Covid and were happy with this but after walking a few metres onto the terrace we joined the back of a queue immediately. We then queued around the whole attraction for around 90 minutes.
I was happy to wear a mask indoors but this ended up being the entire time as there was no opportunity to wander outside due to the one way system, we were also halted at one point by a brusque guide who was leading a small group in the opposite direction.
I wanted to linger at the coins, jewellery and overflow areas but having stood in the queue for so long already I felt obliged to move along as soon as a space opened in front of us as I was so aware of the hundreds of others queuing behind us. We moved forward to wait in another dark corridor for others to do the same ahead of us.
Rooms that were not conducive to the one way system were closed off.
I noticed 2 ladies in period costume (volunteers or staff members) behind a rope by the main bath and thought about asking if they knew what products were used in the construction of the hair style but by the time we reached there I had lost interest, they had no activities or props and made no eye contact.
While the attraction was perfect for me it was ruined by the amount of visitors allowed in, the management completely misjudged the impact of the one way system.
I waited for ages to use the toilets at the end of the queue before buying nothing at the shop as there were no roman inspired jewellery items (this is a first for me), they may have been by the till but I exited at the corner before I got there.
I will be going back but not until this system is removed and the crisis is over.
My partner mentioned that they had taken a sledge hammer to crack a nut and this feels correct.
However, I would definitely recommend this activity without these steps in place.

We visited here during our weekend stay. Organised fairly well under the circumstances although I would still argue there was more maybe one too many in and some people were obviously ignoring the one way system. Definitely worth a visit, very interesting and fascinating to see the baths up close. One for the bucket list. Nice shop at the end and there was the opportunity to buy a hot chocolate or mulled wine half way around. Definitely recommend visiting later in the day when it gets darker, looks quite pretty all lit up.

What an incredible day out! The organisation of this experience is outstanding. Audio tours via individual hand held speakers makes this tour accessible for everyone. Easy to use with 3 different information channels; one specifically designed for children, the other for teens through to adult and the third a recorded reflection. Fantastic. The preservation of the site is thoughtful and the relics are presented in a manner that keeps you interested. Our children (13, 12, 10) were engrossed for nearly 3 hours! So much to learn and so much to interact with, we highly recommend spending time at the Roman Baths. Nice gift shop. No bathing permitted at historic site. Adults can pay to bathe in nearby spas. We purchased the 3 museum pass (Roman Baths, Victoria Art Gallery & Fashion Museum)
