About
Historic street in Bath that is lined with charming shops and restaurants. Milsom Street in Bath, Somerset, England was built in 1762 by Thomas Lightholder. The buildings were originally grand town houses, but most are now used as shops, offices and banks. Most have three storeys with mansard roofs and Corinthian columns. Numbers 2 to 22 are grade II listed. The bank at number 24 was built by Wilson and Willcox and includes baroque detail not seen on the other buildings. This shopping area right in the centre of Bath is a great place to find top fashion designers, department stores and quirky retailers. At the heart of Milsom Street is Milsom Place, a lively courtyard perfect for both shopping and socialising. Here you’ll find an array of one-off designer shops and high-street flagship stores including Hobbs and Cath Kidston, plenty of pop-up ventures, and a selection of cafes and restaurants.

Beautifully refurbished restaurant in a great location in Central Bath.
The food doesn't match the surroundings. Our lunch was very poor. The restaurant lacked any atmosphere as it was empty.

We traversed Milsom Street several times during our stay in Bath. This is a wonderfully preserved area brimming with a diverse selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Many other such establishments and attractions are just a short walk away. At times you will see street musicians playing as well. If in Bath, you need to include a Milsom Street visit in your itinerary!

I loved the historic shopping street of this fashion obsessed town. You can find myriad of high-end luxury shops here. It was built in 1762 in Georgian style. Originally this stately street had townhouses on it. As time passed they were converted to grand boutiques and restaurants. UK’s first department store called Jolly’s can be visited here. You can get the picture perfect view of the grand Saint Michael’s Church from this elegant street. Milsom Place, which is an oasis of art fashion and gourmet cuisine, is located on this street.

Beautiful architecture all around. A good street to use as the connecting route to most areas of bath city. Busy but not crowded during my visit in March.

Milsom Street is one of the many lovely streets to wander along in the centre of Bath.
Built in 1762, most of the original Georgian townhouses have been converted to banks, high-end shops and restaurants, so to appreciate the original architecture, you must look upwards!

The Lib Dem council have now decided to close off many roads to traffic between 10 am and 6 pm, except for buses. Taxis and blue badge holders are not allowed to use the central roads during this time. This is monstrous. As a person who can't walk very far, I am totally disgusted.I can't even get to Specsavers and I need an eye test. This council is a crazy one. They are screwing up the city bit by bit
