A superb spire dominates the skyline. In the attractive Gothic styling it is highly ornate. As is the inspiring interior.

Standing at the rear the vista along the nave is wonderful. Decorative columns and arches advance to the grand altar with its exquisite backdrop.

A colourful ceiling is worthy of attention. A series of Stations of the Cross outline the central tenets of the Catholic faith. A powerful Pieta is thought provoking.

This is a really really beautiful church. Lovely stained glass windows and paintings and interior decor. Also a warm and welcoming parish community. Stop by for a visit, you won’t be disappointed!

I went for a run along the river and across the river I saw the church. I had to stop and take a photo and enjoy the beauty even if I wasn’t up close.

Friday 28th May and we visited this Roman Catholic Church which is situated on South Parade. It is a short walk down Duke Street from Parade Gardens.

The Church and it's tower were both were constructed using the famous Bath stone. The Gothic-styled Church was completed in 1863 and the spire in 1867.

The attractive tower and spire deserve a mention because at 222 feet high, it is a feature of Bath's skyline and is the highest spire in Bath

The main altar is highly ornate and elaborate with 3 large colourful stained glass behind it. There is a smaller altar on either side of the main altar. They also have 3 stained glass windows.

Take a look upwards towards the arched ceiling with its colourful panels and narrow wooden supporting beems.

Pointed archways are a feature inside the Church. Three arches support the balcony where the organ is sites, they also match the shape of the stained glass window behind the organ.

The main aisle is flanked on both sides by more arches.

For catholics or any one intresred in churches a most place to visit along with the Abbey watch out for the kestrel nesting in the spire tends to drop parts of pigeons down when you stand outside

We attended the 1230pm Polish Mass at this church. I grew up in a Polish speaking household so was able to understand a good deal of the Polish. We typically attend a Latin Mass at home in California so non English is par for the course for us.
We found the church quite beautiful and likely as we are Catholic, enjoyed it immensely more than Bath Abbey. The nearly two dozen placards in the church interior provide a comprehensive history of this church. We also learned significantly more about the history of the Catholic church in England from these placards versus anything else we’ve seen in the last week and a half touring the UK.
Not sure if it is a custom in England but this was our second weekend mass and the second without a homily.
The Polish congregation sung nicely unaccompanied by organ. Benediction was offered at the end of mass.

During our stay in Bath we attended mass at St John The Evangelist Church. The church was beatiful and the mass was memorable. We enjoy visiting and attending Catholic masses while on vacation.
This church and the Catholic mass was very special.
Entry was free and we gladly donated during the two collections.

This is a cathedral you do not want to miss on your visit to Bath. The architecture is simply amazing. You must linger awhile to appreciate all the details and nuances. I visited here when the afternoon sun was going down. The light coming through the windows was simply extraordinary. A must for those who relish in this type of beautiful architecture.
