Home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for 800 years this stunning medieval palace is open for all to enjoy. Surrounded by a breathtaking moat with resident Mute swans, you can cross the Drawbridge to experience a true hidden gem in the heart of the City of Wells. The Palace sits within 14 acres of RHS partner gardens, including the beautiful well pools from which the city takes its name. In the Arboretum is the newly developed "Dragon's Lair" children's playground to tire out little legs. There are daily Guided Tours, a Cafe serving delicious lunches, cakes and hot and cold drinks.

We love the Bishop's Palace gardens... A real haven and so peaceful. It's easy to miss because the entrance looks a little unpromising, but well worth it.

We were on holiday in Somerset and decided to look around the Bishops Palace, which is a huge and very beautiful ancient building. We were fortunate to have a tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the building and its bishops, this made the trip so much more interesting.

Peace and tranquility are the two adjectives which come to mind. The planting is beautiful to look at (with the exception of the newest which I personally didn't like). And of course the vistas are amazing. It is worth the entrance money to see the views of the cathedral.

Very interesting afternoon, went round with the house and gardens with the tour guide, he was very informative and would recommend it if you have the time, each lasts about 1/2hr

Visited recently on a Sunday. The garden plantings were lovely, there were fantastic views of the cathedral, and a very good play area for children. We didn't use the cafe but it looked nice. Well worth a visit.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we're so pleased that you had a lovely visit. We're really glad that you liked our new Dragon's Lair children's area - it's proving to be a big hit with our younger visitors! More

We had a stroll around here on a Sunday morning. Very peaceful and beautiful. Lots of open grassy areas to relax, a lovely cafe.
