You can't go to Wells and not call in here. Architecturally, culturally and historically it's in a world of it's own. There maybe be bigger and better on the continent - or even other parts of the UK - but it's out on its own in the south west.

Wonderful Cathedral, stunning architecture and lots of guides willing to take you round if you want to avail yourselves. The library had original chained books on the shelves. Although not accessible to the public the books could be quite clearly viewed. The guides again were really helpful and knowledgeable.

Beautiful building, fascinating history, interesting churchyard, superb stained glass, curious chapterhouse, jousting knights on the clock ....all in all .... a great way to while away several hours

The cathedral is free with a suggested donation of £6. Spacious and gracious. Interesting spaces, side chapels and cloisters. Guided tours available regularly. Very unusual clock - make sure to see it!

Absolutely breathtaking! A must see for anyone who values history! The most stained-glass I have seen in one building anywhere in the world!

Entered the cathedral about 4.30pm, no one on reception desk so in we went with our beautifully behaved dog on a lead. Got halfway round to be approached by a minister who informed us dogs weren't allowed so we had to leave. Disappointed as it was so impressive and really wanted to see the rest. So much for 'all creatures... More

Intricate Bath stone facade sadly losing some of the carving through pigeons and weathering. Surrounding buildings equally fascinating particularly the Vicars Close through the arch to the left. A must see in Wells and cery tranquil despite being a stones throw from the high street and market.

Great place to spend a few hours in a beautiful city. Free tour guide. £6 donation for adults but well worth it. Whilst there we heard a local choir practicing. The acoustics were amazing!
