An welcoming Anglican Church right in the centre of the city. The tourist information staff are extremely helpful and the museum is free - all donations welcome of course. The volunteers who run the museum are knowledgeable and friendly, in small places such as this local knowledge is invaluable so just ask. The short films and dioramas are well looked... More

I really liked this church/museum home to tourist information and a nice cafe inside the glass and stone work is lovely ..tourist information are a gold mine and very friendly. Right in the heat to town with a market outside the front door on a Saturday.

This was our second visit this year and I'm sure we will visit again when in the area. Very informative, lots to see and very friendly unobtrusive staff that are there to help if needed.

Set in St Mary's Church in the market square this is a very interesting place to wonder around, sets out the history of the area and the famous people from the town and surrounding area. Very helpful staff and visit can be rounded off by a cuppa in the onsite cafe.

I recently visited the 'museum' and found that items are missing and it seems they are being thrown out! Where's the metal conduit pipe? I was told it had been sold to a scrapman! There were boxes of papers and archives that i overheard were 'for the bin'. What's going on? I asked to speak to the curator and was... More

Dear Gill M You have probably read in the press that exciting things are happening at St Mary's and the boxes & archives that you have made reference are being sorted and not as you have stated 'going in the bin'. We are not allowed to dispose of anything until it has been checked by our Museum advisor and development... More

We really appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the city of Lichfield in this permanent exhibition. Great for adults and children too. A great plus was that the museums in Lichfield were advertised as free and had donations boxes available for those of us who were happy to provide a donation.

This little gem had been on our list for some time, today we made it inside and upstairs. The outstanding features were the eleven millennium tapestries on entry, the felted figures that follow these, plus the Bower Procession which is quite high up and should not be overlooked. Vast amounts of information are set either side of the walk through,... More

Another warm welcome to this museum that the lady at the Samuel Johnson museum recommended. The tapestries are amazing and I'm not slightly interested in them generally but they tell so much history. The architecture is good too and it was a shame I couldn't climb the spiral staircase to see more.

Well worth a walkabout after visiting the Cathedral. Most buildings retaining their original characteristics. Fewer stalls open on this late afternoon occasion but looks to have a lot of potential on market day. Visit to tourist office will enhance the visit to the city.
