Having a short time available whilst in Hanley I visited the Museum specifically to see the Staffordshire Hoard. The part of the Hoard on permanent display here is limited, but still well worth seeing. The collection is divided between Birmingham and Stoke, but there is also travelling display in other parts of the country. The items are well described, and... More

In my recent visit to the museum I had the chance to look at one of the richest ceramic art collections in the UK, in this the birthplace of fine bone china in the UK and posibly Europe. The second most fascinating item was the display of the Anglo-saxon "Stafforshire Hoard"; a magnificent collection of fine gold jewellery and art... More

This museum was free to enter. It obviously has lots of pottery from the area on display. It was fascinating to see some of the larger , extravagant pieces made for exhibitions and aristocracy. As a local I was bit sceptical about how good the museum would be. I was amazed at the size and quality of the exhibits. It's easy to navigate and has a wealth of local exhibits including some amazing ceramics.

Very impressed by this free county museum. It is well laid out and there is something for all the family. We visited principally to see the impressive ceramics collection, but also enjoyed the art, Staffordshire hoard and local history section.

This is a super place to visit. They have a spitfire!! We went to see the findings from Leek before they are moved on. There is lots to see for everyone. A wonderful area for children. A great place for a rainy day.
