Great if you want things for the kitchen, whether gadgets or food, plus some speciality shops that might catch your fancy. Several nice walks, some interesting buildings/history and several places to eat and drink. You can while away a few hours here if the weathers OK, and an hour or two if it's lousy!

Great shops selling some unusual things A good shop selling everything for the home and kitchen. Good deli shop selling unusual sauces, preserves etc. You can even buy a chocolate teapot, Think you put liquid inside and it becomes a fondue. Some things are quite pricey but a friend of mine bought a very nice print for £15. Plenty to... More

We visited one afternoon (so not for a concert). The shops are up market (the sort of stuff I did not know I wanted...) but the grounds are good and there is a delightful walk alongthe river.

We ventured back after several years and once again was not disappointed. This place is ideal if you want to enjoy a day just browsing and relaxing. There is plenty to see and places to eat and drink all in the same complex. It beats a shopping mall any day and it's unusual shops makes for an interesting way to... More

On holiday in the area, we enjoyed a couple of hours here. The buildings and general layout are interesting and we had a pleasant walk by the river. Shopping is not cheap, as the shops stock good quality and rather unusual items, we enjoyed looking and made a few small purchases; we also enjoyed a good cup of coffee. The... More

Snape is an interesting name and even inspired the character of Professor Snape in Harry Potter. The Romans made salt here and fertilizer was big business. The other business to boom here was the malting of barley and fortunes were made but eventually declined leaving behind a large area of industrial buildings by the river Alde. Fortunately Benjamin Britten was... More

Have visited Snape Maltings over many years for the concert hall and tidal marshland scenery and walks. Great views over the marshes with varied sculptures and picture galleries to view. Recent years have seen the conversion of old granary buildings alongside the quay to housing, the expansion of the music school to international standards and the provision of a small... More

This is a mix of shops, Albeburgh music theatre and residential buildings. The river closeby is worth a walk as the countryside here is picturesque. The shops seem to cater for up-market clientele as prices seem expensive. Plenty of shops for gift ideas, cooking, furniture. We had a coffee at Cafe 1885 but it was bitter and not nice. We... More
