The lay out of the tables makes it impossible to be real silver service plates passed by hand to diners. not good

I'm regularly in Newcastle and this is one of my favourite places to eat, especially from the Early Menu. I'm meat free for Lent so chose the goats curd and salad starter which apple and walnuts which was delicious. The main of nibble and squeak with egg was fine: probably not my ideal choice but enjoyable one the less. I... More

My husband and I came here for an anniversary dinner. The food we had was really nice however the restaurant itself was particularly cold - if you're going wear something warm!

Good roast easy walk from centre of Newcastle. Beef was cooked to perfection but as it's hidden under a lovely Yorkshire pud, you may want to just check how many slices you've been given. A couple of people on our table were short changed, but to the credit of the waitress, this was soon rectified!

This is worth a visit. Historical site with available restaurant. Right next to Chinatown and part of the old town wall

It's a good while since I ate here. Years ago we came frequently as it was excellent, then service became so slow that we went elsewhere. We had a good lunch at a very reasonable price. The fish was fresh and although different to the menu - coley instead of hake- was perfect, and the herb topping complemented the flavours... More

We booked onto one of their "do it yourself" events. Ours being PIZZA AND PROSECCO..... The staff were great and the brief lesson on dough making was really interesting and provided some top tips for dough making at home. The selection of toppings we could use were varied and we had the chance to experiment. And whilst all this was... More

Very relaxing area of Newcastle to sit and chill/walk around in. Blackfriars restaurant is definitely worth a visit, as well.

Book to avoid disappointment or waiting. Great menu (upper class) in a lovely historic setting. Look out for special themed events. Sea food for me is the best, but other guest said steak was exceptionally good too
