Mary Arden's Farm is currently closed and reopens 18 March 2017. Mary Arden's Farm was the childhood home of Shakespeare's mother. Today you can experience all the sights, sounds and smells of a working Tudor farm, just as it would have been when Shakespeare was a boy. Watch "Tudors" go about their daily routine, see rare breed animals and explore nature trails. There are daily falconry displays and archery at weekends and in school holidays. There is a playground for children from 2 upwards, a picnic area and a cafe. Mary Arden's Farm is a working farm that keeps pace with the season so there is always something new to see and do.The Farm is open seasonally from Easter to the end of October half-term.The Farm is 3 miles from the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon in the village of Wilmcote. There are buses and trains to Wilmcote. The train journey takes 5 minutes and the Farm is a short walk from Wilmcote rail station. It is also a pleasant walk along the canal from the centre of Stratford.

The buildings were very interesting and impressive - particularly Mary Arden's house and Palmer's farmhouse and the staff were unfailingly polite and enthusiastic. I was not particularly enamoured by the 'Tudor' staff idea, although they obviously worked hard at being convincing - it is just felt a bit cheesy in a sort of Disneyworld way. However our overwhelming impression and... More

MAF is a nice place. They have a few farm animals and a nice play area. The falconry show is really good. And it's great to see a blacksmith working! The restaurant is a bit overpriced for the quality of the food but they have a captive audience so I guess they may make the most of it. If you... More

First visited last year and had an excellent and informative day. The Falconry display was so entertaining. Even though there were quite a few school visits going on there is plenty of space so you do not feel hemmed in. Cannot wait for March to re-visit.

We visited with our seven year old daughter and the wet weather didn't detract at all from our experience. We learned how to shoot with a longbow, watched a falconry display, chatted with a real blacksmith and met a whole host of animals. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was great. We learned lots and would love... More

~I have taken my children here so many times, yet they never get bored! They have so many different activities going on, in all seasons that you never know what you will find!

We are all big fans of Mary Arden's farm, particularly our daughter who loves looking at all the animals and running wild in the wood. The cafe serves very tasty food for lunch (try the lovely Tudor "frumenty" if you are here), but is just as good for getting a nice cup of tea and slice of freshley baked Victoria... More

The farm is a great look at life in the 1500s: a true "working farm" with all kinds of demonstrations of farm life 450 years ago! Saw a great program on "Hawks and Falconry" There were things to see all through the day. Interpreters very knowledgable and fun! Wish we had known how much was available: we would have spent... The children absolutely love the farm, as it has animals and a play area. The serving of dinner is well worth a visit, as it is informative and funny. Staff are superb at capturing the Tudor dynasty. Lunch was delicious from the cafe, it has a Tudor theme.

We absolutely love it here, visited twice in the summer and cannot wait to start visiting in the spring. Its so peaceful in the meadows. Farm animals, falconary, archery and then the house itself! Staff replicate a tudor mealtime at 1pm, very interesting to watch.

We went here because we purchased tickets that gave entry to several Shakespeare related attractions in Stratford. It appears to be a functional farm. There were ongoing talks and demonstrations by staff in period costumes about milking cows and hunting eagles that made it very interesting and fun for the family.
