Surrounded by benches you'd think Burnaby's Memorial would be well looked after. That's not the case. The memorial looks old and worn, there's miss growing around it and it has been defaced in places. What's shame.

This obelisk is in a churchyard standing next to the Cathedral. I believe it is a memorial for a Birmingham politician. Sadly it gets vandalised often despite being listed. If you are sightseeing the cathedral anyway they it is worth a look.

I have some info on this memorial. It was dedicated to Colonel Frederick Burnaby who rode on horseback across central Asia and was sent to rescue Gordon of Khartoum in central Africa.
